Hi my name is Rodrigo Yrizar Sauceda and I'm a student of the Tecnológico de Monterrey in the city of San Luis Potosi, currently I'm 17 years old and I'm studying my last year of highschool. I decided to portrait my identity in this photos due to the fact that I'm a person who loves nature and also exercising in its surroundings, also I love to eat and drink things, always trying new things. I consider myself a very resilient person, most of the times I manage to accomplish my goals in school and life. My family settles of me, my two sisters and my parents; although I love spending time with family and friends, I also enjoy very much spending time with me, alone, getting to know myself more and more. Last but not least I consider myself as a good and funny friend, I'm catholic but I don't practice or go to church that much; physically I measure a medium height and I'm proudly Mexican.

Cultural Appreciation at Home

The artifact I chose was purchased by my mom in Murano Island, Italy, in 2019.
It's about crafts made with blown murano glass, in the case of my house, we have a set of glass candies made with this well-known material.
The golden era of Murano glass came to almost an end after the 15^th and 16^th century. By 18^th century, after the Napoleonic war, there were few factories and the island, which thrived on the economy based on the glass trade. Murano was forced to change its lifestyle from the path of glassblowing and trading glass articles (MURANO GLASS GIFTS. Web, 2023).

What kind of feelings and thoughts come up for me when you hear the word HOME? Why?

How is Art useful to appreciate other cultures at Home?

Most of the times whenever I hear the word HOME, I tend to think of happines, cosiness, love and I also think about my family, country, culture, traditions and friends.

From my point of view art is a very useful tool when it comes to culture appreciation of someone's home, since you can identify some of their background and identity, and viceversa

Which cultural practice can you implement or continue to do in order to create a more sustainable world?

I believe communal gardening is a tradition that could help to create a more sustainable world. Together, we can minimize the carbon footprint; advance sustainable agriculture, and strengthen a feeling of togetherness by growing plants. By encouraging us to reconnect with nature and recognize the value of the environment, this activity reduces waste and promotes more mindful consumption. Thus, traditional wisdom may be preserved and environmentally friendly agricultural methods can be promoted by wisdom knowledge about indigenous farming systems. By engaging in community gardening, we can all contribute to a future that is greener and more sustainable.

I made this verse, using as inspiration the problem I'm trying to eradicate, which is "gender inequality".

I draw a worker kid, in order to demonstrate Mexico's kids labor explotation, as Kara Walkers did in the piece of art named "A Subtetly" to show people's explotation in factories.

Art can be used as a very strong force. It raises awareness, amplifies the voices of marginalized groups, inspires action, and unites people towards a common goal of justice, equality, peace, and social transformation/change. This can be done through various forms like paintings, music, performances, etc.

Art drives to a positive change in society.

What projects/activities can I design, participate or bring to create awareness and promote a sustainable social change?
In order to promote social change and raise awareness towards the environment, different initiatives with a commong goal can be implemented; looking for volunteers with the desire to conserve and care for the planet. Furthermore, a message can be created and captured in art, whether contemporary or urban.
What did I learn about other cultures and perspectives by analyzing its art or cultural expressions?
I learned that each culture and/or country has different perspectives, and that these must be respected, since the people of each country are very different, even among themselves. I also learned that art is very varied. For example, what for some is not art, for others it is, and vice versa.
How can art be useful to spread awareness about important global issues and promote social justice?
Art helps spread awareness about big global issues, by making people feel things, telling stories and/or testimonials, and showing important ideas in art performances.
Art can make people think differently and even change how society works. So, art is an interesting way to get everyone doing something about making the world a better place for everyone.
