Society treats people with mental handicaps in different ways, and rarely the way they should be treated. I’ve noticed a lot of people think that people with mental handicaps can control them and do something about it, or that it doesn’t really affect their lives. On the other hand, some people think that people with mental handicaps aren’t able to do things and treat them like a child. There are some people out there who treat people with mental handicaps like actual people, but are still considerate of their struggles.

Women have been treated as objects for centuries and still are today, just not as intense. Men tend to think of women as someone who can cook and clean for them. For several years, females have fought for equality and the fight still continues today. Women are even treated as objects in school. If their shoulder is showing, it gets labeled distracting to boys and the boys learning environment. Women can’t even wear something that makes them feel confident because they usually get called an offensive slur. Society focuses way too much on a females body. The fight for equality is far from over and will not be over until women aren’t viewed as objects by men.

Writers do not have a responsibility to address societies concerns. Writers can use their power of words to do good and to address these concerns, but it isn’t their responsibility, they should be able to write what they want. We need to address these concerns for are selfs and stop looking for writers, or popular figures in general, to do it for us. In short authors should use their writing to address the things they want to write about, and the things that are important to them.

Writer’s do not have to be responsible to address society’s problems. While the writing may be seen by millions of people it is not forced upon authors to address these problems, though many may look for them to do so. So, if anything, writer’s would be pressured to address the problem by society.

I think society treats people different with mental handicaps which I think is horrible. Everyone should be treated equally. I think when someone sees a person with a mental handicap they starting treating them differently than what they would treat someone without a mental handicap. For example I’ve seen a lot of people start to make jokes about their mental handicap or start to bully them just because of there handicap. However there are multiple people out there that are aware of their handicap and will help them but don’t treat them any differently than any other person. Which is how all people should look at them again they are just a person with differences like everyone else has.

Friendships play a key role in the development of a person. The friends you have usually sway the choices you make, the way you think, and the actions you preform. Depending on who you surround yourself with, good or bad people, you will make either good or bad decisions in your life. Your friends also help you stay physically and mentally healthy (in most cases). Having friends that you enjoy being around will make you more happy in the sense of being able to “fit in” and help you feel as though you belong to something. Friends will also help you be able to handle stress better, make healthier lifestyle choices, and rebound from health issues better.

I don’t think writers have an actual obligation or responsibility to address social concerns. Anyone with a voice is going to feel personally obligated to bring attention and publicity to an issue. I think it’s important that writers speak up because they’re the ones who are in the best position to do so and have more of an impact than someone not in the public eye.
