WHY- That was when the French Indian war ended and to help repay debt U.K started to tax Colonies in order to raise money. They also passed some laws that angered the Colonists. This lead to the start of the resistance.

"Benjamin Franklin Testifies Against the Stamp Act" 1766

As Benjamin Franklin testified against the Stamp Act he was asked a series of questions. As Franklin answered these questions he stated that before the year of 1763 America was willing to submit to the government of the Crown, they were very open towards it. Whereas now people are irritated with the Stamp Act, because all they've done during the war and now they've been cheated by Britain to pay for even more taxes. Franklin is then asked what would the people do if similar acts were made within the future. All Franklin said was "Just as they do this. They would not pay it." If the act was not repealed, the people of America would have lost total respect and affection. As time went on people would not pay, others started boycotts, protests, and some began using violence to get their way.

“Dean Josiah Tucker Advises a Divorce” 1774

This document shows the extent to which critics of mercantilism thought of the laws as unfair, after the British established mercantilism for over a decade, experienced the Tea Party, and before they experienced the battle at Lexington. Within this document, the narrator discusses why separating from the colonies will be beneficial for Britain.

The year 1763 was the date in which the British first established mercantilism within the colonies. The establishment of mercantilism would later anger the colonists as a consequence of Britain's use of the colonies as sources of income and resources and Britain's desire to apply a constant oppression to the colonies' self-sufficiency. Moreover, the establishment of mercantilism showed that Britain thought of the colonies as inferior to Britain and simply used the colonies as resources for their prospering - ideas which contrasted with the liberal American viewpoints of the time.

In the eyes of Josiah Tucker, the colonies would be incapable of supporting themselves after a separation due to the eventual appearance of distinct political ideas within the colonies and consequently a desire to reestablish the British as their leaders. Moreover, Josiah Tucker stated that Britain will prosper after a separation due to the lack of a responsibility to protect the colonies through their military, and
a decrease in the debts of merchants and manufacturers since they won't have to attain loans from their king.

By saying this, Tucker tries to diminish British fears of the colonies becoming self-sufficient and of them suffering economically. He points out these facts with the goal of convincing Britain to diminish mercantilism without violence. Due to the fact that this document was made after the Boston Tea Party and before the Battle at Lexington, it's reasonable to conclude that at the time British-colonial relations were greatly severed to the point that a means of decreasing colonist rebellions without violence was in need - a task which would fail to decrease the hate towards mercantilism and eventually lead to violent rebellions.
