When we write numbers, each digit has a special job depending on where it sits. The tens place is the second digit from the right in a number. It tells us how many groups of ten are in the number. For example, the number 84 has and 8 in the tens place, therefore it has 8 tens inside that number.

Hundreds Place Value

In a number, each digit has its own special place. The hundreds place is the third digit from the right. It tells us how many groups of one hundred are in the number. For example, in the number 435, the number 4 is in the hundreds place. That means there are 4 100s within this number.
