Title: Figurative Language

Date: 12/14/16

Figurative language is a huge part of a good story. I’ve read a lot of stories and, there isn’t a single one that doesn’t have some sort of figurative language. This is a big deal because, figurative language clearly adds that little piece in a story that makes the book that much more enjoyable. How does this affect the mood? Simple. Well, it depends on what the mood is but, usually, the figurative language adds something to help give an understanding of what is going on. So, like in “A Christmas Carol,” there is a part at the beginning, and it says, “Old Marley was as dead as a doornail.” This is stating that Old Marley was dead, but he was as dead as something and, that is the start of figurative language, sometimes. A doornail isn’t alive, that’s common sense, but, when it is used that why is mean Old Marley was dead. That’s what figurative language is.

Title: A Christmas Carol
Date: 12/16/16
Overall, I loved the movie! The acting was amazing, the characters were portrayed Great, and everything was resolved. The movie was everything I expected and more. The ending bit Scrooge ending up as a big part in Tiny Tim's life and helped him through his illness. I found that part of the movie, even though it wasn't very long, very touching.

I want to make sure I finish almost all my work today so and throughout the whole year, to get straight A's. The reason I so badly want these A's is, my mom says that is I get a report card with all A's on it, she would take me to Disney Land or anything I want. That is one of my main goals to accomplish this year.

Tittle: Simile
Date: 1/3/17
A simile is something that is commonly used in fiction stories. A simile is when you say something is similar to something else when that is clearly not possible. For example, "The ground felt as if it was about to open wide and eat the whole school." Or, "My stomach felt like there was someone inside me punching me, or something was about to eat me from the inside out." These are both examples from fiction stories that I wrote. I have many more similes in these two stories but, these were the two I liked the most from my writing. As you can see, both have a word in them that I like to call, and simile word. A hyperbole word is, a word the shows up in a simile that is telling you what the thing is similar to. As and like are the most commonly used two, "AS dead AS a doornail." And, "she could eat LIKE a cow." That is what a simile is.
