Bill teaches American Sign Language. What separates him from other instructors is his methodology, how he teaches sign language. 

Sign language is very different from other languages. It uses visual perception instead of audio perception. It involves using different hand signs instead of using your mouth to voice out your words. How sign language can be powerful is that the majority of people don’t know the language as most people don’t try to learn it as they are not deaf. This allows the deaf to sign to each other in secret even in public without people knowing what they are saying giving them power. It could possible be used in espionage to convey information between people. You can use sign language in situations that commonly can’t be used with other languages such as in loud environments. This language changes the way deaf people think as studies show that they think in signs instead of words. 

There isn’t just one sign language but American Sign Language is the most commonly used so depending on the deaf person’s perspective one sign can mean different things. Road signs normally consists of the places nearby, the distance to the place and the road speed limit. This connects to power as it limits the speed a car can go and it also allows people to have a rough estimate of how long more they will take to reach the desired location as well as the direction in which they should head. Finally, without these road signs, people won’t know which direction to drive to get where they want to go

Over chess's one in a half millennia existence, chess as a game was a military tool for strategy. Although its earliest records of it was from the 7th century,  supposedly when the youngest prince of the Gupta empire (India) was killed in battle, his brother devised a way of representing the scene to his grieving mother. Chess was originally known has Chaturanga or "4 divisions" in Sanskrit due to its initial designs. The name "chess" was later what it was called from the word "Shah" meaning king.

After the 7th century Islamic conquest of Persia, chess was introduced into the Arab world, transcending its role from tactical simulation to poetic imagery. This is linked to power because diplomats and courtiers used Chess to describe political powers.

Through the trade of the Silk Road, many variations were born, "Go" in China and Shogi in Japan. This led to it becoming a more casual experience.

The link to language is that historically, Chess was a form of expression and self-expression that captured many cultures into creating their local variations. Chess has a rich history that is, I feel, is  often hidden/overlooked by/from the modern world, but is one of the oldest games in the world and has been a part of many cultures. Chess pieces have also gone through many versions depending on where/when it was from. This can show to modern historians on what were the government systems like and symbols integral to the culture.

It translates Chinese words to English word by listing a chinese word and its English equivalent, as well as examples of how to use it in a phrase. Thus, it would be largely used by chinese speakers who want to learn how to express their thoughts and ideas in English when visiting a predominantly English-speaking country.

This connection between language and power demonstrates the global impact of the English language. Because English is such a widely used language around the world, non-English speakers feel compelled to learn it in order to communicate more readily in varied settings. This shows that speaking in a certain language has more power than speaking in another. Furthermore, changing words from one language to another may have the same denotation. However they may have different connotations, thus losing the word's actual meaning, thoughts, feelings and emotion the words were actually meant to represent and convey. Therefore this shows that language has the power to influence us and the way we think.

In the English Oxford dictionary it is defined as a Hokkien word that denotes a "grasping, selfish attitude" that arises from fear of missing out. 

This demonstrates the connection between language and knowledge as although it is technically a Hokkien word, it has been immersed into the English language used by local Singaporeans and is treated like an English adjective. However, the original meaning stays intact. 

Why do people not then use the English word equivalent of kiasu? It is because the word itself has collected its own meaning and context within the Singlish language that English by itself cannot define and replicate. The knowledge that the term kiasu has become is unique to only its language of Singlish and Hokkien. The Oxford definition is treated as a respectful acknowledgement of Singlish, but no one outside of the Singapore area uses it the same way that they do. 

This gives Singaporeans power through the uniqueness of their language and slang formed over the years, which is exclusive to only their cultural community. The empowerment of having their own terminology gives Singaporeans a sense of belonging and thus there is a felt power of the community. Their knowledge is therefore cultural through their language.

Mussolini is known to have a great affinity to language and through so is able to move crowds into doing what he wants, demonstrating how his manipulation of language led to him gaining power in his country. His strong language skills, especially in speaking can justify his actions, many historians agree that Mussolini's speaking skills was the factor that led the public to believe in him, granting him power as the ruler of Italy. Ones ability to utilize language is vital in society as well, where people who speak well are respected leaders and listened to, effectively gaining them power.

This shows the linkage between language and power, where his linguistic skills brought him great power over a country and terrorized europe.

The language has many rules when being used. It takes about 4 months to learn the entire language, and it can be learned by being taught how to use the language. 
By learning the coding language of python, they are able to understand the coding language, while the people who don't learn the language is not able to understand the coding programme. 
As time goes on and the person who learns the language becomes more experienced and advanced, and finally masters the language, they will be able to achieve power in software.

With it enabling faster communications, ease of sharing and more, it would enable articulation of more complex ideas to others, like the Long Telegram, a critical element in the US' side in the Cold War, giving explicit expression of their stance against the USSR and their strategy against them.
