- provided excellent illustrations to further explain each concept.
- went through some of the common elements, listing their name, symbol, appearance and use.

It also provided the motivational side to learning about these concepts- the fact that matter is all around us and that it is important to have a good understanding of this matter in order to know how it affects us, how we affect it and how we can utilize it to our benefit.
