The Parkland School District (PSD) has recently developed a six week long summer math acceleration program for students who wish to progress academically in accordance with their capabilities. To be eligible for summer math acceleration, a student must successfully complete Algebra 1 with a final grade of at least 85% as a year long "brick and mortar" course in the district, The student must then pass the Algebra 1 Keystone Exam to satisfy the state graduation requirement.

If this criteria is met, then the student may enroll in Algebra 2, Geometry, College Algebra, or Trigonometry & Analytical Geometry classes over the summer depending on the next course required in sequence. Students must pay a fee for the summer course taken and may only register for one course at a time. Finally, the student must successfully complete the coursework and achieve an 85% on the comprehensive examination to receive credit for course advancement. Upon successful completion, the student will be registered for the next course in sequence for the upcoming school year in PSD.

Summer math courses may be taken through the PSD, an accredited 2 or 4 year college/university, Keystone Online, or John Hopkins Online to accelerate through the math curriculum. Should a student complete all required courses to satisfy the PSD math curriculum, he/she may enroll as a dual enrollment student at a local college or university to continue study of the subject either in the summer or during the school year.
