I think that we should have more green roofs. This would not only benefit the wildlife, but it can have the effect of making a city look greener. This would work especially well if you lived in a block of flats, as the roofs are flat. This would also work if your house had a slanted roof, as you could have flowers and plants planted in between the tiles, or have a climber plant or ivy running down the roof. If we all had green roofs then London could become a lot greener and this would largely benefit the wildlife and people

I think we should have the apps so people can explore the outdoors and people can see on the app where they are going to walk and the app will also show were you can see nature/wildlife and where your friends are walking so u can meet up and have a walk together which would build a bigger community.

Green roofs reduce up to 37% of sulfur dioxide and we can make this even better by creating more and more. Even if you have a slanted roof, you will probably have a friend or neighbor who has a flat roof and will be able to convince them to get a roof garden. They also act as a nice relaxation places for friends and family. In one roof garden there are on average 172 different species of wildlife which is a lot in itself, but if you imagine that almost everyone had a roof garden, think about how many species that would be. Our first step to making London greener is to green up our roofs.I have a roof garden myself, but do any of you?

Martina

The Mayor wants to make London the first National Park City with a target of making 50% of the city green by 2050. To do this, we want to plant more trees, restore our rivers, create natural play-spaces for children and green routes to encourage walking and cycling. London is one of the most polluted cities in the UK, and we cannot necessarily stop this completely, but we can reduce it by either walking or cycling, or maybe even taking public transport. Another way to reduce pollution, is to create more CO2 by making almost every space possible green. We can even add this to our own homes, by having plants around the house, and a few to green up your own room.

Martina

This is a very good example of people realising that we need more green in our cities, and even if we don't have much area of land to work on, we can make the most of it by biulding higher just like Boeri. I think that we should make more of these vertical forest as they benifit in very many ways.

Martina

Since most flats have flat roofs people could start community projects to turn them into gardens. This is would be good because national parks are about boosting community growth. The only problems with started roofs is that people can't climb on them and so they wouldn't be able to water them unless you use plants that don't need extra care in which case you are fine. People could also have long plant pots hanging from the roof which they can pull down to look after and hang back up when they have finished using it. If we had more wind turbines then that would also help London become more sustainable and economic. This would also reduce Co2, i think that it is also important to get the message out about saving what we have instead of making what we don't. We don't have robots and are doing fine!
India

Making people more aware of nature would make London a lot greener because it would promote everyone's understanding of plants and nature so people would be more interested in it. A way to do this is having more maps and information about nature in books and around the place so that people will see this information and get ideas of their own about having nature around them.

A way of making people think London has more open space than it does is by having parks without a view of any buildings. This is good because it makes people feel like they're in the countryside which promotes their wellbeing without sacrificing a lot of precious space. A way of doing this is having lots of high trees in the park and not having very high buildings around the park.

This area of green would attract animals and lots of birds.Local people or community service or retired people could water these plants .

Millie

Although roof gardens are difficult idea they are a bit difficult to create with slanted roofs. If we had plant pots on the railway lines then people might steal them or people could roll them onto the tracks. I think the reason we have lampposts instead of trees is because England doesn't get that much sunlight in winter or enough to be really strong. Also, if we wrapped life gets around the trees than how would they grow without breaking the lights. Maybe if there were solar panels on top of lamp posts with emergency batteries in case the light was low could work. However, that would cost a lot of money and I font think we should compromise lamp posts for London to be a national park because parks are about celebrating the culture of the area and we shouldn't change things to become one. Also, lampposts are also good for safety and taking them down is a risk that London shouldn't take.

India
