I come from a family of four that consists of my mom, dad, sister, and me. My parents are originally from India, and I have had the opportunity to visit there four times in my life! I was born here in California, however, and have lived in San Diego since I was two years old. I enjoy reading books, going to church, and helping out in my community during my free time.

I went to a unique high school called Health Sciences Charter, which sparked my interest in project-based learning and innovative practices in education. I did not decide that I wanted to pursue a career in this field until I got to college, however, when I completed a child development course at Miramar College. This experience helped me discover my passion for helping others and recognize the need for continued growth. I transferred to Point Loma Nazarene University after two years and completed my Bachelor of Arts in Child Development during the Fall 2021 term. During this time, I got the chance to engage with a diverse group of peers in the Adult Degree Completion (ADC) program. This prompted me to switch my career path to higher education because I wanted to help adult students achieve their goals. I enrolled in my graduate program during the Summer 2022 term, and am expected to graduate in the Spring of 2024!

A current goal of mine is finishing the spring semester with "A's" in all of my courses. This would allow me to advance towards my overall goal of finishing my master's program with a 4.0 grade point average. I am also looking to find a higher education campus to gain some professional experience in this sector. My long-term goals are to work in administration and earn a doctorate degree in education that concentrates on social justice. I look forward to embarking on my professional journey!

I do not know too much about higher education, but I know that it provides learners with an excellent balance of structure and exploration that can facilitate their growth in numerous areas of life. I have also seen over the years that a college education can drastically improve an individual's employment prospects, depending on their field of choice. College graduates typically have a higher earnings potential than their peers. According to the Social Security Administration (SSA), "Men with bachelor's degrees earn approximately $900,000 more in median lifetime earnings than high school graduates. Women with bachelor's degrees earn $630,000 more." One of my favorite aspects of my higher education experience is that it has given me the opportunity to see the world through a greater lens. This helped me discover my passion for inclusion and serving others. I look forward to learning more about the specifics of this field throughout the semester!
