In Anatolia you can see lots of temple which are dedicated for Apollon. Priests and priestesses were living in those temples and foretelling to people who asks.
Once upon a time; Apollon saw Brankhos. Brankhos was a sheppard in Didim. Apollon liked him a lot and he taught him tricks of the foretelling. After a while Brankhos built first temple for the name of Apollon. Sons of Brankhos ruled the Apollon temple for a long time. In those times people were very interested in foretellers even the king of Lydia, Kroisos. He was planning to attack Persian Empire and he asked to a priest of Delpho Box, who is known with his accuary on fortune telling. Priest said "After you attack to Persian Empire a great empire will collapse". After that Kroisos attacked and he failed. But the prophecy didn't. Lydian Empire collapsed after that war. When Persians got the city the burnt down the temple and destroyed our possible knowledge about Lydian empire because temple was also used as a library. At 300 
A.D with the order of Seleukos the temple of Artemis was built.
