Language and it's use impacts students success in the classroom greatly. Language is a way that people communicate and understand each other. It is important that all languages be acknowledged in the classroom and that we work to establish some level of understanding between the students and teachers in order for students to be successful. When I think about language I immediately think about ebonics/slang as a language that many of my students subscribe to. I think the idea of code switching is important for student success.
