Most important thing I learned was that most of the footage we have of Jewish people from the war is from Nazis. This is important because it creates a very skewed perception of the Jewish people, even now.

The most important thing I learned in today's class was how many ghettos there were and how they weren't in good conditions for people to be living in, alongside the amount of people in them being way too high for such a cramped space.

The most important thing I learned from Mr. Riteman was that just because he survived the concentration camps, does not mean that he is no longer suffering. Even though that is over and he survived the trauma from his experience will always stay with him and it is important to be respectful and aware of this when covering topics like this.

Thank you for sharing the early parts of your horrific past. I was wondering if you or anyone in the cart tried to break the side and escape. Obviously it would hurt to jump out, possibly leading to death. But it would still be better than being in a camp.

the most important thing I learned was that trauma (survivors guilt), doesn't go away. Mr. Riteman’s story taught me that even being in your 80’s, you can still have the mental scars and they can still haunt you.

My question for Mr. Riteman would be, “How did he manage to go on after losing everything at such a young age?”

From watching the video and hearing Mr. Riteman talk about his story I learned that people who were between the ages of 18-40/45 years old were somewhat safe from instantly being put to death.

The most important thing I learned about was the brutal and unneccesary harm that the Nazi's inflicted upon innocent people and their bodies. Many times German soldiers are seen as victims of a ruthless dictator, but Mr. Riteman's story sheds light on the Nazi soldiers that simply had no empathy for Jewish people or their relatives.

The most important thing I learned in that class was the impact and trauma some individuals suffered and still suffer from due to those horrible circumstances, If I could ask Mr. Riteman a question I would ask more about how his experience molded the person that he is today and how he views the Holocaust currently? When he moved did his perspective change?
