• Anti-Federalists would not ratify the Constitution it without a bill protecting their rights.
• After promising that a bill of rights would be the first concern of Congress, the rest of the 13 original states ratified the constitution.
• On 17 March 1789 at the newly constituted Congress, James Madison proposed a bill of rights with 12 amendments. 
•  Each of the amendments protect the rights as follows:
  • 1st – Speech, Religion, Press, Petition, Assembly
  • 2nd – The Right to Bear Arms
  • 3rd – Protected against Housing Troops
  • 4th –Protection against improper Searchers and Seizure 
  • 5th – Rights of the Accused, Due Process of the Law, and Eminent Domain
  • 6th and 7th – Right to Fair and Speedy Trial and Jury Trials
  • 8th — Bails, Fines, and Punishments
  • 9th and 10th – The Peoples' rights are not limited by this list

• Important because such a list of  rights had never before been given to citizens by their government

WHO-Key figures where the pilgrims that signed the Mayflower Compact when they wrote up the 200 word document.
WHAT-The Mayflower compact was the first establishment of written laws created for the land.
WHEN-November 1620 was when the Mayflower was officially signed by the men of the ship.
WHERE-It was signed on the mayflower at present day Cape Cod.
WHY-The reason for the signing is because during the voyage they had not landed in the correct location so they where off course and pilgrims threatened to go on there own, and this was the insurance that they still abide by King James laws and rules.

(WHAT) 3/5 Compromise was proposed by James Wilson and Roger Sherman(WHO).  The compromise was made because they were trying to figure out the representation issue in the House of Representatives due to the populations(WHY). Some wanted to include the slaves in the population but some only want to include the free people. Those at the Constitutional Convention(WHERE) were trying to figure out how to count the slaves. According to Constitution.com, it was James Madison who came up with the ratio 3/5. But it wasn't established until after the Constitutional Convention. John Locke was probably one of the biggest contributors to our constitution ever. he was born in England in 1632 then as he got older he went to Westminster. John Locke went on to write Two Treatises that inspired millions as well as our constitution. He was also the OG who originally came up with the idea that everyone had natural rights such as life liberty and property that was eventually stolen by our founding fathers he also believed in a government created to serve and help the people. That's what he is most known for but he was the base structure for the separation of power within the U.S. through checks and balances to limit government power. WHO:
The Preamble is the beginning of the constitution, stating the reasons why the founding fathers of this nation created The Constitution, replacing the Articles of Confederation in hopes of establishing an official government and be recognized by other countries as a free nation.

WHEN AND WHERE:
Created on September 1787, and ratified in June 21, 1788, in the state house of Philadelphia, the preamble was created by the founding fathers within the building. The fifty-five delegates took four moths to create this constitution, and when it was created, the Preamble was placed at the very top of it. Signifying the creation of a new nation, under liberty and a symbol of freedom.

Who: The Key Figures who were involved in the Stamp Act was the British Government and Patrick Henry. 
What: The Stamp Act was an action that required various items such as licenses, documents, diplomas and nearly every paper item to be printed on stamped paper in the American colonies.
When: The Stamp Act was passed by the British Parliament on March 22, 1765. Examples of documents that were required to be stamped were legal documents, certificates (including Marriage), Newspapers, Bills of Sale, Diplomas and Certificates, Wills, Calendars, and Any kind of declarations.
Where: England
Why: The Stamp Act was significant because  It was the first serious attempt to have governmental authority over the 13 colonies.

Who: France and Britain, and their Native American Allies.

Where: North America

When: 1754-1763

Why: The French and Indian war eventually led to Britain putting more money into send troops and resources into the colonies so they could win the war. This forced them to increase taxes on the American colonists, which was a major cause of the revolutionary war.

What: The French and Indian war was the last war that France fought before the French Revolution. The war was over territory. Both France and Britain wanted to increase their influence in North America. This hunger for more territory led to conflict and tension between the two countries. As conflict between the two increased, fighting began to break out in the colonies. This eventually led to all out war, with both Britain and France allying with different Native American Tribes.

Who? The colonists all agreed that the declaration should be written, so the Second Continental Congress selected a committee to write it. The committee consisted of several well-known figures, including Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, and John Adams.
What? It stated three principles that became the basis of the Constitution and listed the grievances that the colonies had against the king.
When? July 4, 1776
Where? Philadelphia
Why? The colonists were upset that they were being overtaxed by Britain without having representatives in Parliament to vote on their behalf. It's significant, because if the Declaration of Independence hadn't been written, we wouldn't have been freed from Great Britain and America would be very different from what it is today.
