The convention was about slavery, but the women were not allowed to speak only because of their gender. Due to this, the two became outraged and thought that they deserved better. Many rights at the time, were taken away from women, but men still had them. The two decided that they wanted to be equal to men so they wrote the Declaration of Sentiments, which is close to the Declaration of Independence. Later, the father of education, Horace Mann, spoke to the citizens in an attempt to explain why it is important to have free education. Because of free education to can solve some problems such as poverty and crime.
