Summer seems a distant memory, although I question if it ever arrived? 
It's been great to have time to get to grips with all the study materials and begin planning how I am going to fit in the university hours with a baby that is due in 3 weeks time.. typical me, I can never do things in 'small doses'. 
Anyway, the key learning I have made this week is what 'pedagogical' means. I can now understand the difference between subject knowledge and pedagogical knowledge and why it is important that teachers can link both to successfully teach. I found the Plowden Report activity very interesting as I can see the similarities with ways of learning/teaching then to now. 
Areas for further study/research include the Skinner theory as this is something I haven't yet come across but, from reading on the forums, is likely I will within the next few weeks. 
I have created my PDP and my short-term goals include; completing the 3 audits, referencing external sources and managing the workload.

It's ok to not know everything... if we knew everything, life would be boring right? My short-term maths goal for this module is to improve in problem solving.. or as I call them 'maths comprehensions' as you've got to understand the vocabulary in order to progress. I've attached my go-to maths dictionary which will be my BEST FRIEND for the foreseeable!

Suddenly everything I thought I knew had just slipped out of my brain. Put it this way, Block 3 is going to require lots of recapping! I found the curriculum reading very interesting this week and especially enjoyed comparing the approach Scotland and Sweden take by allowing the teachers to be professional agents within their job role! The picture above is the picture book that I will be reflecting on for TMA03 children's literature - a book with a very strong meaning!
