Soooo how might I use it in the Social Studies Classroom? 🤔

1. Could get students who prefer STEM subjects more engaged with Social Studies content.

2. It can be also be used to illustrate historical thinking skills. The example used in the article which discussed the demographics of Congress is similar to sourcing.

3. We can also use it to make modern connections to topics that students may initially find unrelated to our contemporary moment.

Computational Thinking is a useful tool, though it does seem like you would need quite a bit of planning to pull this off successfully.

You would also need the right topic, so it's not a "one-size fits all" tool, it has to be thoughtfully adapted, so it might be used sparingly.

Knowing the strengths, challenges and interests of your students should be something considered as well. Students who enjoy STEM classes will likely enjoy the activity, but students more inclined to the Humanities may not. You may also consider your students familiarity with analyzing data.
