For the content to drive success and deliver what we require, the UXDL and UDL must be checked and managed. Addressing these elements will increase user engagement and retention, showing care was taken in the content delivery and that core guidelines were implemented. Learner Analytics applies the details of how and why we collect data and the actions to be implemented.

Kirkpatrick's Evaluation Model

This was the first time I had seen this evaluation model, but after understanding its method and delivery, I could easily see how it would capture all the areas sufficiently for the evaluation of my project, having the four core topics to process each area by interacting with the audience, capturing learning data and behaviours and results to maintain focus and positive conclusions.

UXDL and UDL Evaluation

Both of these evaluation areas made me realise the importance of quality assurance and the quality of what it should deliver; this feels like an essential part of driving and creating successful learning materials. Having these checklists in place at different stages for sign-off by the IDs and eLearning tester to be completed before launching allows issues to be corrected before the final launch.

Using the Honeycomb Model to map out and create a checklist to cover the seven critical areas of expectations and ask the questions, 'What would we desire the learners to be looking for the content to offer them?'. Asking this to myself gave me the opportunity to think as a learner regarding the expectation of what a great piece of content is.

Learning Analytics

From an analytics point of view, it was good to focus on the different trends and types of data that should be captured and ways to do this effectively. In my role, we often look at top-line data fields such as completion rates and user interactions and less on the broader trends, overall performance and return on investment.

What I have taken away from this is the benefit of collecting data from various sources and taking time to explore what breadth of data we currently hold and how we can use this to inform our approach and improvements moving forward.

Next Steps

After completing my project, my next step will be putting the theories, models, and knowledge I've gained into action.

The project provided additional information in areas I have utilised already, such as the design of content, the creative tools that can be used, the importance of engagement with social interactions, the learning flow, and implementing a structured delivery plan that is communicated and shared with key members involved. Although I was aware of these processes, the project still offered additional valuable knowledge and growth of these skills.

There were many different areas in which I had less experience and wasn't as familiar, but the knowledge provided from the learning will add to my future way of working, such as;

• Using Bloom's Taxonomy effectively to structure the early stages of the project in measuring the learning outcomes correctly, as these need to be achieved by learners to complete the course successfully.

• Having a clear evaluation plan to capture user data and multiple stages of the learner journey to provide clear trends, how it compares to expectations, and if it met the business need by utilising Kirkpatrick's model, but also ensuring content is quality checked before launch by using the UDL and UXDL evaluation methods.

• Creating detailed learning personas for prior knowledge of the user's needs and preferences and using these as reference points to refer back to at multiple stages of the project ensures the needs are being captured for the target audience.

  
  

On final reflection, there are some key takeaways that I will be actioning within my role in the future. Following the completion of this project, I will be setting up a meeting with my team to showcase everything I have learned and created with the intention of agreeing on changes to our current process so we can deliver more impactful learning content and gather data to allow continuous improvement.

Some personal changes that I will be taking forward are allowing myself more time to focus on planning stages and less of a focus on speed of delivery. This includes meaningful conversations with the SMEs throughout to ensure the information that is being shared is delivered in a high-quality, impactful manner.

I will also be taking personal development time to upskill and maintain best practices with current trends, as I found the models implemented in this training could have a profound impact on my role moving forward.

The digital learning industry is constantly moving, which has increased due to the pandemic and the need for distanced learning. To guarantee that I stay ahead of the curve of learning trends, I will continue to research and trial new technologies and approaches. This will form a large part of my continued professional development.
