This is a book series that follows main characters Lucy Carlyle, George Cubbins, and Anthony Lockwood in a dystopian era in which London is overrun with “visitors” (Ghosts) that only children can see. Our main characters are employed as an agency for investigating these “visitors” and removing them. Elements used in this composition were the skull and jar which are representative of the “visitor” in a jar the Lucy carry around and talks to, the staircase in the background with is a call-back to the title of the first book The Screaming Staircase, the locket is a reference to a necklace given to the main character, and the saber represents the swords that all of the characters carry to protect themselves from “visitors”.

Midnight Club

The Midnight Club follows a group of teenagers diagnosed with terminal illnesses living in an end of life care facility. As a way to cope with the inevitable the group forms the “midnight club” where after bed checks they sneak to the library at midnight to tell each other stories. The images used for this include a tea cup with steam (the main character tries to cure herself by studying different herbs to make teas), books (to represent the stories they tell and the library where they meet), an hourglass (a symbol used in one of the stories), a rocket (another object featured in a story about the end of the world), a hammer (used as a weapon in one of the scary stories), and a pair of ballet slippers that represent not only a scary story told by the character Anya but also a depiction of herself.
