By Louis Sachar

Holes is about a boy named Stanley Yelnats whose family has been riddled with bad luck for generations. The story begins with him being accused for stealing the shoes of the famous baseball player, Clyde Livingstone. However, he is innocent. He was sent to Camp Green Lake where they dig holes everyday to (supposedly) build character. But what they are actually digging for is a mystery.

I loved holes because of the amount of hummer and irony Louis Sacher but into this book. I also enjoyed how he ties the w(hole) story together all the way till the last paragraph. Another thing I thought was interesting about Holes were the parallels between the plot and setting of Holes and American history from the south as it used to be a slave state.

I read Holes as print book and for the top 50 student's list.

By Philip Reeves

Mortal engines is a story about man named Tom Natsworthy, a third-class apprentice in London. Far in the future, whole towns and cities have become mobile as fuel and resources become scarce. The story continue when he meets a girl named Hester, who attempts to kill the mayor but fails. However, there is more to this girl than you think.

Mortal Engines is amazing. How Philip Reeve managed to imagine this world is insane. I loved how interesting the world is because of how their world is related to ours. Mortal Engines is set many years in the future our appliances like toasters and lightbulbs are what they call "Old-tech".

Mortal engines is a print book and is part of my multiple choice.

Hester and Tom reach another traction city riddled with plague. They eventually meet Freya, the leader "Radiance" of the city and Professor Penny Royal.

I really love this sequel to Mortal Engines and I think it does a great job at continuing the story of Hester and Tom after the events of Mortal Engines.
