Tami Davis

People living below the poverty level is higher than the national average by 1.1%. I would have thought it would have been less than the national average because of the job market in Eau Claire. The largest amount of people living in poverty are females age 18-24 followed by males age 18-24. Females being the largest demographic living in poverty was not surprising with the wage gap outlined on the previous sections, but the age group was a little surprising- I assumed it would be children, especially if there were multiple children per household, which would multiply faster than adults, if that makes any sense. It’s not coming out the way I want to explain it.

The Business and Nursing programs had really high enrollment at CVTC. This isn't too surprising as many students choose business when undecided and then move into something else at the 4 year. I know UWEC has tough admission requirements for freshman entering nursing school, and typically the tech colleges have full enrollment and waiting lists for the Nursing program. This is great for the future of the aging baby boomer population and the employment gap with healthcare workers. ~Dr. Victoria Olund
