I really had no Idea Coming into this course what it was about. As the course went along and I started to learn more of what I was doing I began to enjoy some of the modules. There I found a lot of great resources that I can use in the future for teaching music. I really liked the module on flipped classroom. I don't think that online teaching should ever eliminate the classroom, but in that module online learning was more of a facilitator of interaction in the Classroom. I really liked the video of the teacher who was the Plaid bandit. He really made the material pop out at students by making it interesting.

Here is a link to the video

The use of technology has and will continue to enhance the way that students learn, and assist teachers in teaching.

Provide the opportunity for participants to advance their personal technology skills, including the use of Google Apps for Education, presentation, communication, social networking and learning management systems to support teaching and learning;

Reflection

This class required us to use technology every week and every assignment. In every Assignment we were required to use some form of technology.

One topic that I found interesting was the module on twitter. I had not explored twitter at all before this module, and I found it quite helpful. Here is my reflection on it

Reflection on Twitter Module

I did not of a twitter account before this assignment. As I scrolled through the different #'s I found one called #musicedchat so I typed that into my twitter, and started scrolling through the posts. There was a lot of interesting things there. there was some music classrooms that had received free equipment and they talked about where they got them from. There was also a post where there was a band that was a student taught band with no director or teacher. It was unclear to me if this was intentional or if they didn't have a teacher so they decided to teach themselves. I didn't love that idea as they didn't sound that good, and it eliminates my job. There was also teachers sharing about their different forms of assessment as well. I think that this could be a good way to continue your education as a teacher. There is a lot of teachers collaborating on twitter and I think I can definitely glean some great stuff from there.

Google Classroom example

Here is a Google Classroom that I created

Expose current and future teachers to many of the online resources available to support effective teaching and learning including assistive technology and student record reports;

Reflection

I use technology everyday. I love technology. I use technology everyday in life. I had not thought a lot about how I would Use Technology in teaching. I always knew I would use videos and audio to help demonstrate professional playing, but I found so much more technology that I can use.

One of my favorite things that I was introduced to in this class was the google suite. Up to this year I didn't use google docs, slides, sheets, or Classroom. It was a huge discovery. I now use google docs for everything, and Google classroom is the LMS of my choice.

 I also really liked Screencastify. I had heard of it before, but never messed with it. This will be extremely helpful when using smart music and explaining it.

Here is an instructional video about how to use Screencastify

Here is a link to a lesson I did on Smart music using Screencastify
