One is called Max in other words Freak, and the other is Kevin known as Mighty. Max is a big, buff, bully with a brain the size as a walnut. Max lives with his uncle and aunt and gets abused of by his father that was currently in prison. Kevin is an extremely smart teen, and lives with his mother. Kevin's body is normal except for his legs, Kevin sufer's of morquio's syndrome, but lives his life to the fullest. Not to mention when Max when out of his way to make the doctor keep trying to save Kevin. According to page 155 Max states " I'm say no way1 No way!... then I'm running down the hall and its like I'm a kicker again, ready to blast anybody who dares touch me". He also states that he was skidding around the corners and bumping into the walls. Max would not stop he kept trying to do anything and everything he could do. On page 155 it also states that he even punches through a glass window just to get to Kevin. Even with the security people following him and jumping on him, he would not stop he kept going. Even when they were putting handcuffs on him and were going to medicate him he still tried to save Kevin. Generally speaking, Max did try hard enough to save Kevin. One example of how Max tried very hard to save Kevin is when Kevin could not travel very far Max took him places he could not go. Helping him live his life to the fullest.  Max was willing to give his time to be with Kevin and take him places. Max made Kevin happy and max actually got something out of that. The main theme of the story is to overcome challenges. At the end of the story they faced too big of a challenge for Max and Kevin. No in the first body paragraph it states in the second sentence that max took Kevin places he couldn't go if he couldn't go why would he risk taking him what if he died in one of those trips. So did he really try saving him or was he just risking his like even more. Yeah sure you can say that it made him happy but whats more important him being happy or him being safe.
