The Byzantines established an occidental province, Spania, in the south, with the intention of reviving Roman rule throughout Iberia. Eventually Hispania was reunited under Visigothic rule.

The First Visigoth to be converted was King Reccared during the celebration of the Third Council of Toledo.
The Visigoth population was formed by noblemen and peasants.
The noblemen had a lot of power.
The peasants worked the land and took care of the cattle.

The Francks defeat Muslims at the Battle of Torus. The battle helped lay the foundations of the Carolingian Empire and Frankish domination of western Europe for the next century.

Taifa Kingdoms
in the 11th century the caliphate of Córdoba ended and the territory was divided into small kingdoms called Taifas.
In the Taifa Kingdoms the Christian Kingdoms that were on the north took advantage of the divisions between the taifas for conquer land from the Muslims that defeated the Visigoths in the Battle of Guadalete in 711

The Court of the Main Canal (Patio de la Acequia) in the Alhambra.
The court channel was originally in the shape of a crossing, like the one in the Court of the Lions (Patio de los Leones), supplying water to four oblique parterres.

It was designed as an interior garden in the Alhambra. It draws water from the Royal Canal (Acequia Real).
