The class has been working on talking about emotions and self regulate techniques. On this day we went over the star method of holding up our hand and expanding our hand as if it was a star by it to breath, then pausing and hold our breathe, and then lowering our hand as we exhale. In which the class did a few times. We then continue on finishing a book on counting and we would count with our fingers. The example used for today was "I can feel.", the teacher asked the children to count with her the words. Then we shifted to "Shake and Move" song. The teacher introduced the story of the "Itsy Bitsy Spider". The teacher had a paper with the story which included a picture of the drain and hole cut in the bottom of the drain and top. A string was attached to the spider and then the string loop to the paper. This gave the illusion of the spider going up and down the drain when the teacher would pull on the string. Then the teacher demonstrates with hand motions of the itsy bitsy spider and we watch a video of the story, as we watch the video we do the hand motions. The teacher moves forward to covering numbers 1-5 and involving a game by using cut outs of the numbers and asking each child to state the number show with their fingers the amount. With the cut out numbers and close pin, the teacher would clip them by decrease of amount onto a small white board with the help of the children state the number. In this discussion we had talked about the theme that would be conducted during the week of my second lesson plan. In which we had discussed about the theme about giants and had shared ideas of what I could do. The teacher had shared the site they used which is "Frog" as it goes hand in hand with the structure of learning. This was the first time that I've learned about Frog and it was interesting to see the structure of information and activities that are designed around the themes. From the conversation we had shared, we agree that the story of "Jack and the Beanstalk" would be a great story to read to the children. Although she had mention that if I didn't follow through with the story of "Jack and the Beanstalk", that it's okay and she is open to anything else that I would do. The discussion of the lesson plan was reassuring and supportive to feel confident to explore additional area and was a conversation that was helpful to have. For this method we cross are arms over our chest and then breathe in and out. We then continue to doing the "Shake and Move" song to energize our bodies and wake up by doing the movements of the song. After the song we reviewed about Wednesday. On the white board it was also written "Fathers can take care.", which we reviewed. Which was used to learn and discuss about the letter "F". As we practice together making the "F" sound, writing capital "F", and lower case "F".  The last topic for the day was on shapes. The teacher taught us how to make a triangle shape using our hands. We used our index and thumb from each hand, then tilting them both to the center, and then we connect them to each other to make the triangle. The children demonstrated faces of shock and amazement of the doing the triangle. One child even showed the parent. While each picture was displayed on the screen, the teacher would create interaction with the children about the color, the spots on the animals, and size. One of the boys would state "gato" when the teacher was talking about the cat. The children demonstrates great excitement on this topic of pets. The children demonstrated more excitement of the dogs over cats. The children would state the color of the dog and most children would state "dog". We then moved onto story time which was One More Hug by Megan Alexander. I read the book to the children. The book discussed on emotions and needing one more hug from the child's mother as the child faces challenges. Question were conducted on the reading and demonstrated facial expression to the children. I wasn't able to capture the name of title. The story was about children who went tricker treating around the neighborhood on halloween. The story shared a description of child was next to be walked home in group to be dropped off. It started off with ten children and slowly decrease until there was only one child left to go home. The child got home, changed out of his costume, and got tucked into bed. Following this, we began to discuss the letter "S" along with talking about emotions that began with the letter and demonstration of the facial expression of the words. Emotions we discussed were silly, serious, smile, and sad. The teacher would ask each children to demonstrate a specify emotion to the screen. We then moved to listening to the song "Shake and Move". The teacher had prepared everyone's name on stripes of paper and then had them placed in a basket. The teacher had asked the children to help her shake the basket together. We all began to do motions of shaking out an imaginary basket to mix around the names. The teacher would then pull out a name one by one and demonstrating the name to the screen. The teacher would ask the class who's name was it. The teacher would give hints like state the first letter of the name. One of the parents helped their child when their name was on the screen. After the teacher, had state everyone's name, she had place the names back into the basket and ask the children if she help shake the basket once more again. The teacher had done "magic" and the names disappeared from the basket during the shaking. The children were amazed from this action. Following the discussion of carven, we did the song "We're Going On A Bear Hunt". As we were doing motions to song, the part of the cave was referred to as cavern now. We then did a new song which was called "Jump". In which the teacher ask everyone to get out of their seats and jump along. After the song, the teacher then went back to board to discuss about carven and mountains. The teacher then brought up the topic of rocks and discuss shapes, sizes, and textures. The teacher had asked the children if they could find really quickly a rock and bring it back to the screen. Two children had found rocks and the teacher had asked them if they share information about it like what color does it look like. The teacher had her own rock and shared hers. As the song was playing, we acted out actions that were occurring in the video. Once it had ended, we began to review what the bear had seen and what movements we did. As the bear had seen the changing of the colors in the leafs, it was time to for me to implement my lesson on reading the story "I Know It's Autumn" By Eileen Spinelli. In which the story was about the discussion of the changing into autumn. The book had covered leaf color changing, temperature, and harvest changes. The teacher had leafs as an example of leafs that were seen during autumn. The teacher then moved onto the topic of dice. The teacher had demonstrate a small dice and then had asked the children if they could help her make a dice. The teacher had asked to the motion of constructing a box, glueing dices and taping it. Then the teacher had demonstrate the box to the children. Then each children then had an opportunity to stop the dice from spinning and state how many dots do they see. The teacher was telling the story to the children instead of reading word by word to the children. The teacher wasn't able to finish the story as class was ending soon, so she had given children a sneak peak of what was going to happen in the rest of the story and promise to read it to them at next meeting. We then moved onto the next message "The quiet queen said 'The giant left quickly'". The teacher had asked him if he has ever seen a giant. The child stated no. The teacher then proceed by stating "Where do you think giants live?". The child continue to stating "I've never seen a giant". The teacher has stated that today we were going to read a story about a giant. In which it then moved onto conducting the lesson plan created by myself. In which a box was demonstrated to the child and asking what they think is inside. The child had state they think it's a train, then context of the box was demonstrated to the child which were the character of the story. Then I began reading the story of "Jack and Beanstalk". As we read about the story, the child share their thoughts as interaction level was higher as the involvement of Spanish was occurring during the reading. As the time was coming close to an end, the teacher had asked the child some question connecting to the reading. When emailing my mentor, I wanted my first impressions of myself to start well and be direct on the days I'm able to observe so I don't take up so much time from my mentor to email me back and forth. Once we had agreed on time and day, my mentor stated that they would share the link to the meetings. After waiting for a few days, I hadn’t received anything so I had reached out to ask if it could be sent once again. In which we had discovered that sharing the link wasn’t appearing into any of the inboxes, so a picture of the meeting was sent. From reaching out and asking, we both resolved the issues and this had taught me the importance to reach out when not hearing anything back as we both had didn’t assumptions. Along with being prepare to observe, as I had tested the link and founding out that the Webex application needed to be downloaded. The teacher had a display of different shapes, in which the teacher had ask what the children's favorite shape is and then help match the shape to the shapes across. Once we ended the activity, we began the discussion of positive choices, the teacher had an electronic story to read the children. The story had situations where a boy had choices to pick from. One of the situations were what was the proper way of going down the side whether sitting on their bottom or laying on their stomach. The teacher would give the children time to think and respond. We were through a few more situation and practice positive choices. We had an introduction to the child and we all said hello individually. This was the first time the child joined the class, with each new activity it was explained to the child.  We discussed the message of the day "Today is Wednesday.". We then moved to the song "Open Shut Them". Once done, we started to do a shape activity on a board where it contain six different shapes and behind each one had a quantity of dots. First we had reviewed each of the shapes and then the activity was explain. Since only three children had appeared for the session, each child was given an opportunity to pick their favorite shape to discover what is behind the shape. We would count together the amount of dots. As one child was distracted during the activity and the teacher was struggling to capture the child's attention during the session, she had asked the other classmates to help the child pick a shape. The popular shape pieces were circle and rectangles as the children would state it loudly when it was their turn to pick and during the discussion. The teacher then continued the conversation of counting with other toys children can use to count. The teacher brought out 5 lego pieces in three different color tones. In which she had asked the children if they could count with her the lego pieces she had. The teacher had displayed them on the top of a board so the children could see them clearly. Once we counted the 5 pieces, she then split them into groups based on the color and asked the children how many pieces did they see based on the color in each group. We then moved onto talking about positives choices, the teacher then involved the book "No, David!". As the teacher had demonstrated the story to the children, on child expression to fear and sad. The child demonstrated to be upset and hold onto their parent. The teacher then asked what was upsetting the child and if it was David. The teacher had reassured the child and that she would cover David's mouth so that she would feel better. The child began opening up again. The teacher then started reading the story to the children and going through a few of the scenarios like when reaching for cookies, not removing his shoes before walking in, and getting really dirty. Time was up and so the teacher had paused the book and they were going to finish it next time. The teacher then began with the song "Rise and Shine". We then moved onto the message board, which stated "Today _ _riday.". The teacher demonstrated her snowman and that it came and had erased it with its nose. The second message on the board a drawing of a girl thinking, in the thinking bubble the girl was wearing riding a bike with a helmet. The teacher then had asked to the children if the girl had made a right choice and why it was. One child had stated yes because she is wearing a helmet. In which the teacher elaborated that it's important to wear a helmet when riding a bike to be safe and protect your head. The last message on the board was on patterns, in which it had "♡ O ♡ O♡ O ___". The teacher stated that we were going to continue practicing on patterns. The teacher then proceeded to state the pattern that was on the board and sharing what pattern was on the blouse she was wearing having the colors of "black, green and red all over". Then a child stated "mine is black, red, black, red". The teacher had acknowledge and stated "yes your shirt has a pattern too". The teacher then asked the children if they could help  her finish the pattern on the board, in which she asked the children what is the next pattern after the circle. A child had stated "heart", in which the said good, and we continue to fill out the next two spots. We then begin to the next topic of discussing branches and pinecones. The teacher had brought in a real example for the children to see. The teacher demonstrated the branch to the children and processed to ask what the name is for branch, a child stated "arbol". We then had moved onto discussing about positive choices in which children would share if the image share was a good or bad choice using their thumbs. Since it was my first day tuning into the class, I was listening and just observing the routine of the class and try to involve myself by participating as some of the items we did that were repeated like the star self-regulation as it was done a few times and the part of “Who Came to School Today”. Seeing the children learn self-regulation methods was interesting, as it’s an important technique for children to learn to use to cope with emotions and began to start practicing so they can begin to cope and express how they feel with using words instead of crying and being upset. The last thing that was covered on this day was a story the children has started previous on another session so they were finishing up the story of counting. In which the book had feature one through 10, where it had pictures of items and they began to count each and we would use our fingers to represent each item. As there will be times when a child transfers into your classroom and so seeing this provided insight. When discussing the activities on this day, I saw the change in method of using the white board with a booklet style of having something on the cover and then the inside being something. The teacher had done something similar days before and I was caught by surprise when the inside had changed to using dots which helps to observe children ability of quantity at sight. Seeing how the teacher uses simple element to still capture the child’s attention and still teach them something related with it. The children were also learning about positive choices and were read “No, David”, the new child had felt scared from David mouth. The teacher had address the situation quickly and found the solution of covering the mouth so the child would feel better. We asked questions and have time to focus more learning more about them and give them longer time to share. Once another child had logged in, we were moving onto other activities so adjustment was set to be inclusive to the other child to take turn to response. When the teacher had stated “Are you ready for a challenge?” towards the children, it’s interesting how the dynamic changes and the response of children. In my perspective, this was the hook that the teacher had to gain children attention to the following activity. The children saw this activity as a game and wanted to find two matching shapes. As before this activity, the message board was reviewed and it had state “Dragons live in dragon land.”. This had confused myself on the purpose of and why it was reviewed. So, it might have lost some children at this point since children didn’t say anything, so when she had brought up the next activity it demonstrated how presentation and tone mattered on how the activity was going to affect the interaction. Then the book sharing activity was such a strong hit where children were already wanting to share their favorite book and had to be patient for their turn. This demonstrated how little things can cause so much excited to share and feel involved during class time. The last main activity was on earthquake, which was interesting to see how it was being cover and review with children to learn the important to do. The teacher had demonstrated a video of an animated child during an earth quake at home. Which was a smart path to show as the children will most likely be experiencing one at home compared to teaching children what to do at a school when they aren’t even in class physically. The children from the morning session had joined this session. The class began with the message board stating "Today is Friday". In which we repeated together, then moving to the second message "Dragons live in dragon land.". We had a briefly discussed about dragons and where they live. After this the teacher had asked the children if they were ready for a challenge. The challenge consist of having a children select one out of ten shape from the board and hope that to reveal that the same pattern under it. In which children had to memorize what shapes were under what folder. The next activity that was plan was on using dominos number and finding the matching to a numerical number. The teacher then did a  song to help with the wiggle children had demonstrate in this session. Once the song ended, the teacher had asked the children if they brought their favorite book today to share with the class. Which at this point children started showing off the book to the screen. The teacher share instructions of how it was going to go and modeled the example. Each children that had a book with them shared the cover and their favorite part. We then moved onto covering the topic of earthquake and a video was demonstrated of a child who was at home and the earthquake occurred. Once we saw the video the teacher had further supported by showing the children how to take cover and to protect the neck. We ended on this topic and said goodbye to each other. The use of thumbs ups and thumbs down, help the teacher as we had some microphone issues with the children but with this they were still involved because we can see how they responded. Since there was only one child in the session, I could focus more on the child and adapt to what I’ve noticed and learn from this child in pervious lesson. In which resulted in switching from English and Spanish back and forth as the child responses more but would help bring their focus on the lesson of giants along with the constant interaction would hopefully help the class feel that the class was going by quick. It was difficult at points to get the child’s attention but I felt appreciative of these moment as it helps me practice bring their attention back to the lesson. At the end of the lesson, the child could differentiate who was the giant and state some of the storyline. Once logged in, I was shocked to see ten children and some students which were from the morning session. I had learned after the session that the children were welcome to join the other session if they weren’t able to make the first session so it was nice to see they still had the opportunity to join later in the day and they didn’t miss out from school. Children were learning the letter “J” on this day, in which the teacher had found quick connections of a child jumping off their seat, one girl having a jelly sandwich and how they were learning about Jack and the Beanstalk. It’s these types of small connections are important and intentional towards helping children to expand on connection and understanding. Although there were ten children in the session, she observes them to make connections and invited them more into class and for them to observe what each other are doing so they aren’t just paying attention to the teacher but that they have classmates. There’s points in where I’m just tagging on along and trying to learn the songs, so when she stated we were going to do “Simon Says” I felt fine about it as it was something I knew. Once we began and it was switch on “Simon says show me a happy face”, I was like wait what. As we were covering emotions during this period so it was an interesting way how it was changed to help the teacher see children recognition of emotions by having them act it out by using Simon says. Song are involved in every session which are generally rotated by time and so the song of “We’re Going on A Bear Hunt” is one we would listen on this day. Before the song had played, she had presented the word “cavern” with an explanation about what it was with an image. So once the song had played, instead of saying “cave” it was changed to “cavern”. It’s interesting to how involvement of new material is placed and connected to items we do previously. With the continuation of cavern, we had the discussion of rocks and the children could leave to bring back a rock if they could find one at home. Moving on, the teacher tries to have the class to connect on the subjects and flow, so she had played the song “The Bear Went Over the Mountain” to help go along with the book I was going to be reading to the children about autumn. With the help of my mentor on how supportive, she helps to further support on the discussion of seasons changing to autumn. This was my first official lesson plan implemented virtually so there were elements where I see I could’ve improved but she was supportive and made me feel calmer as it went. So, after the session with the children, I did ask if we could stay to discuss about ideas for the lesson and the theme children will be learning. Since being aware of the limited time the children have with the teacher each day, I wanted my lesson to have a purpose and flow with what children are learning. My mentor had shared about “Frog” and reviewed it with me as it’s how they use it with the themes. Towards the end of the session I agreed to read the story of “Jack and The Beanstalk” as it went along with the theme. My mentor teacher is so amazing and so helpful to be supportive as whenever I reach out with her. So, when she would show it empty to the children they were shocked and surprised. So, I had a read the children a book “One More Hug” by Megan Alexander, as I felt that it would be a cute story to read since parents are sitting next to the child and at points we are faced with challenges and need some support by a hug to get through task. It was interesting her book of choice since it connected to Halloween as the children in the story were coming back from trick o treating. Although it had connected to numbers as we had one less child as the story progressed because they were being dropped off. The story didn't focus much on Halloween but I wasn't expecting a story that related to holidays as since it something some school try to stay away from. The second activity that stood out was the number activity the teacher had for the children in which she used closed pins so it could be quick to adjusted in order for the children. It was interesting to see as she was implementing this activity, she created adjusted so used the back plan to hold the numbers so they wouldn't fall.
