         <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;I disagree with this student because that only happens when a lunar eclipse is happening. The reason the moon changes is because the sun only shines on half of the moon as it rotates around Earth. According to what I have learned, the sun shines on half the sun, plus the Earth doesn't cast a shadow except for one special day every couple of years. I know this because this was tought to me by my school in science class. That is why she/he is wrong.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I do not agree with this student because the New moon phase happens when the moon is between the Earth and the sun so the half of the moon that is facing the sun is lit up, and the half of the moon that is facing away from the sun is dark. Since we are on Earth and the moon is in between the sun and Earth we see the half that is dark. The student got the New Moon Phase confused with a Lunar Eclipse. A Lunar Eclipse is when the Earth casts a shadow on the Moon during the Full Moon phase. I know this because we have been talking about the moon phases in class. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I do not agree. I don't agree because when the moon is in the New Moon phase it is in front of Earth and kind of in front of the Sun. I know this because we talk about it in class and I've seen it myself too. For example when we have a Solar Eclipse the moon has to be in the New Moon phase because when it is its directly below our line of sight to the sun and the moon goes up making a Solar Eclipse so it would be impossible for Earth to block the "Moon's light" when the moon is blocking the sun's   light.</div>]]></description>

That means that the Moon and Earth rotate in a diagonal, 23.5 degree way. That means that when the Moon is considered to be " new", it is facing away from the sun but is facing us. &nbsp;</div>]]></description>

The reason  is because the Sun is shining on one half of the Moon at once  and it depends on the angle we see it. In this case it is between the sun and the Earth, one half is lit up and the other dark since it is in front of us we see all black.Earth only casts a shadow on it every once in a while. I know because we are learning in science about Moon phases, and why and how they happen.</div>]]></description>

The reason there are moon phases in the specific order, are because since only half of the earth can be dark at once, depending on how much we have rotated depends on how much of the bright parts of the moon we see from different point of views/angles/places. And, if this was true, we would have a lunar eclipse every night!</div>]]></description>

New moon relay happens because when moon is in front of the sun we cannot see the backside of the moon. I know this because we did simulations, and we are learning about the moon phases.          <description><![CDATA[<div>The Earth does´t cast a shadow on the moon during a new moon stage because the Earth is not casting a shadow ever except when there is a lunar eclipse. The sun lights up the part of the moon facing it. As an observer on Earth, when the moon is in a new moon stage, we are seeing the dark side. The other side of the moon is lite up and we can see that side because it is facing away from Earth. I k now this because of Mrs. Proper block 2. I have had experience with this topic because Mrs. Proper has taught me this and she has proven it many times with videos, examples, and different activities that she had for me to do.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I disagree with this student that the new moon phase happens when Earth casts a shadow on the moon. Earth does cast a shadow on the moon in every other phase. Waxing Crescent, Waning Crescent, Waxing Gibbous, you name it! Except the Full moon when the moon is higher than Earth. Earth is tilted on an axis, so is the moon, and so is the moon's orbit around Earth.&nbsp; I know this because I have seen examples of the tilt and the orbit. I can relate to this because&nbsp; I too didn't know what caused the moon phases until I worked on and learned about it in class.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This student is incorrect because the Earth's observer is seeing the new moon when the sun is on the other side of the moon not because of Earth's shadow.&nbsp; The student is saying that the moon is on the other side of Earth then the sun, but they are actually on the same side of Earth when a New Moon occurs. The reason for this is because the moon is an opaque  object, so the sun light is only on the side facing away from Earth so we can't see the moon.I found this out in 6th grade science class during a project. This relates to me because I&nbsp; have been working on this in class.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I do not agree, because the sun is always lighting up one half of the moon, whereas the other half of the moon has a shadow (The sun can only reach one half of the moon, because the sun can't rotate.). As an observer on Earth,( on the new moon phase) we can see the side that isn't lit up, because the sun and moon would be in front of us, so the light would be on the front half of the moon (the half that we can't see). The student just explained a lunar eclipse (except eclipses don't happen once a month.). But&nbsp; the new moon phase could happen once a month or a couple times a month. ( Like how it takes a <strong>moonth </strong>for a complete moon cycle to happen.)</div>]]></description>

New Moon&nbsp; occurs when the sun is casting light on halve of the moon and the other halve is dark. Although, it still depends on the angle the earth is. This is because half of the moon is always lit up, but sometimes the point where&nbsp; you are at on the Earth is facing slightly towards it wouldn't be a new moon because you would see some of the light on the moon. When you are completely on the the side that is facing away from the sun it would be a new&nbsp; moon.<br><br></div>]]></description>
