The Long Walk is a novel about 100 boys who are in a walking competition. During the walk, they are not allowed to go below 4 miles per hour, and if they do then they get warnings. They only get three warnings, and if those are exceeded, then they receive their "ticket." Who ever wins will receive anything they want for the rest of their life.

I would highly recommend this book, especially if you like darker books. This book pulls you in and makes you never want to stop reading it. What happens in the book is so unexpected, and leaves you on the edge of your seat not knowing who will win, and who will be the next to get their "ticket."

"It was only nineteen miles to Caribou, but dark would come before that. No rest for the wicked, Garraty thought and that struck him funny. He laughed."

This quote shows really how long this walk is, and how tiring. He says it is only nineteen miles, but walking that is a long way. That shows that the walk is so long that nineteen miles seems short. Also, he says no rest for the wicked. This means that no matter what, they cannot rest or take a break. The walk is so challenging and long. People who rest are the ones who end up getting their "ticket."
(page 79)
