The witch trials were trials held to prove suspected witches guilty. Nearly anyone could blame someone else for being a witch. This turned everyone against each other. When suspected to be a witch the people were almost guilty because of this thing called spectral evidence. This was a way that a witness could make something up about some to make them look guilty. The guilty were killed if they did not confess to bing a witch.

The Puritans were the first group of people to come to the Americas. They came to the new land in hopes of making a God-run government. Originally they were in England and they believed that they were the pure religion. In 1620 they arrived at Plymouth Rock and established the Massachusetts Bay colony. They believed in many things, but most importantly they believed in God and satan.

Minster Samuel Paris believed that satin had been let loose among the Puritans which really scared his girls and they began to go crazy. Their slave Tituba admitted to being a witch and cursing the girls. The accusers of witches were mainly girls and would accuse others to save themselves. Accusations of witchcraft began to spread rapidly in New England because of spectral evidence. Many accusations were made if one was to admit to being a witch they would be spared as long as they were to accuse another which turned everyone against each other. Today, many historians have found more details about specific locations where everything happened.

So many puritans were afraid of witches because of their belief in the devil. They believed that satan had which as side kicks to help him do evil things. It was also common for people to believe in witches in England too. This meant that when some crazy girls started to blame their insane actions on witches that people believe them. Once one witch was found people believed that their could be more so people began to suspect other people they disliked to be witches.

Calvinism is a teaching that was inspired by John Calvin. There are five points to Calvinism which are total depravity, Unconditional election, Limited atonement, Irresistible grace, and Perseverance of the saints. Calvinists believe that man is unable to save himself because men are sinners. They believe that God predetermined people to live in heaven and hell. All of the people that God elected will live in heaven and none of them could ever be lost.
