The reason why is because you aren't entirely sure if he loves the young lady more than you. Sending him to the door with the tiger would also continue a senseless loop of unjustified murder called "justice" by you're father The King. There's also nothing saying that you can't run away together after this. So in the end the best choice that I believe is right is to send the young man to the door that has the young lady.

Then again you wouldn't want them to die either because the guilt, and sorrow will also shred you into pieces as well. I believe in you to choose the best  course of action, but just in case you're still baffled/confused on what choice to make I'll recommend choosing the door with the lady behind it. Even if he gets married to her you should get him to divorce her, or the 2 of you could run away together to another kingdom or some common country far, far away from home never to be seen again till the king passes!!!!
