         <title>Sugar Act- 1764</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Sugar Act was passed in 1764 by Great Britain's parliament with the purpose to stop the smuggling of sugar and molasses. The British motivation for this Act was that they wanted to raise money to pay for the French and Indian War, and they didn't wanted their goods smuggled. The colonists reaction to the Sugar Act involved protesting and more smuggling.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Stamp Act-1765</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Stamp Act was passed in 1765 by Prime Minister Grenville and it's effect made colonists have to buy a stamp when they purchased paper items. What the British wanted to gain from this Act was money directly taxed from the colonists. This Act resulted in protests, boycotting, and founding of a violent secret society that opposed the tax collectors. Later in the year delegates from the nine colonies issued a deceleration that said the Stamp Act was a violation of their rights </div>]]></description>

         <title>Navigation Act 1650-1696</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>A Navigation Act was passed in 1660 by the British Parliament and it's effect made colonists unable to trade specific items with countries other than England, it also only allowed trading to be done through a ship.  Over time more Navigations Acts were passed were other acts required all trade goods to ​pass through English ports, and were added to the items.​ The British passed this law to maintain mercantilism and to get money from this. In response to this the colonists made complaints to the British, made illegal trades and smuggled goods so they could continue trading with countries other than Britain.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Declaratory Act-1766</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Declaratory Act was created by the British Parliament in 1766, it stated that the British had the ability to make any laws for the colonies whenever they wanted. The act was made in response to the Stamp Act were the colonists "challenged Britain's authority." Colonists were worried for their independence since the British could easily take it away. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Townshend Act-1767</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In 1767 the British Parliament passed the Townshend Act which placed duties on glass, lead, paint, paper, and tea. Another component of the Townshend was that tax collectors were now able to search peoples homes for smuggled goods. The British gained more money from the colonists that have been taxed. Colonists strongly opposed this Act because it limited colonial governments and this resulted in boycotting and protests. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Tea Act-1773</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Parliament decided to pass the Tea Act in 1773 which gave British East India Company the ability to sell tea to the colonists. The British passed this law which was British East India Company idea to sell cheap tea to the colonists which had the possibility to stop the smuggling of items, and the British would gain more tax money if this were to happen. The colonists opposed this act as well because the British East India Company could but many tea seller's out of business. A protest made by the colonists occurred and they disguised themselves as Indians and snuck into the British East India Company‘s ships and dumped their supply of tea that they planned to sell into the water. </div>]]></description>
