Since 1821, every September 15th, El Salvador celebrates the signing of the act of independence that made it a sovereign and independent country.

To celebrate this important event, schools organize parades, musical bands and dancers rehearse many weeks before the event. In addition to educational institutions, some parades also include people from the national civil police and soldiers from the armed forces. After the parade, the national anthem is sung, the prayer to the flag is recited, the national symbols are talked about and the dancers dance some typical songs of El Salvador.

September 15th is a national holiday in El Salvador so that people can rest and enjoy this memorable date.

Currently, in 2021; 200 years of independence will be celebrated in El Salvador, due to Covid-19 massive events are prohibited but that will not prevent Salvadorans from remembering and commemorating the date on which their country finally obtained freedom.

<sub>São João, also called Festa Junina, is a big part of Brazilian culture. Every June, Brazilians celebrate Saints Juan, Antonio and Pedro. It is also time to celebrate the harvest season, so the festivities are filled with traditional food made mainly of corn, such as 'canjica', 'pamonha', 'pipoca', 'curau', and much more.

The São João festival in Campina Grande, Paraíba, is the largest in the world. It lasts the whole month of June. Yes, every 31 days of the month!

This holiday is celebrated with food, dancing, attractions, concerts, and bonfires. The party takes place in Parque do Povo, a free place where everyone is welcome.</sub>

<sup>The Chinese New year is celebrated by Chinese around the world and marks the beginning of the first month in the Chinese calendar.
The celebration usually takes place in February and last for fifteen days. Before the holiday begins, families clean out their houses to sweep away bad luck and they decorate  their doors with red paper and big Chinese characters for happiness, wealth, and longevity.

The night before, families gather together for a delicious meal. Outside, people set off firecrackers that make loud noises all through the night. In the morning, children wish their parents a healthy and happy new year and receive red envelopes with money inside. It customary for people to give each other small gifts of fruits and sweets and to visit older family members. In the street, lion and dragon dancers set off more firecrackers to chase away evil spirits.

<sup>In the United States, Thanksgiving Day is one of the biggest holidays of the year. It is celebrated primarily in the United States and Canada. In the United States it is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. It is a day when families from all over the United States get together (sometimes travelling long distances) and prepare traditional dishes, watch football on TV and have a big meal.

A traditional meal usually consists of a stuffed oven roasted turkey as the main dish. Other dishes like potatoes (in various forms) and cranberry sauce are also considered traditional by most families.

When the United States won its independence from England in 1776, each state celebrated Thanksgiving on a different day. In 1863 President Abraham Lincoln, in an effort to unite the northern and southern states, fixed Thanksgiving Day for the entire country as the last Thursday of November. In 1941, President Franklin D Roosevelt made Thanksgiving Day the fourth Thursday of November.
