Of Mice and Men is a story about two men that travel the land of California, in search for work. Their end result is to achieve a piece of land of their own, with rabbits and animals of the like. Lennie, one of the main characters, wishes to be with the rabbits 🐰. That is Lennie's only dream and our sculpture reflects that. In our sculpture you can observe the small rabbit on Lennie's shoulder; this shows reality. However in reality, Lennie cannot physically deal with the rabbits. For he is too strong. Any living thing Lennie has ever tried to handle, has been hurt or killed. Now, in his thought bubble, you can see a much larger rabbit, which is what is needed for Lennie to be able to handle

(There are spoilers in this paragraph)
The play dough sculpture of a mockingbird represents the children, Scout and Jem. Throughout the story, Jem and Scout grow up together and mature overtime. In the middle of the story Atticus, Scout and Jem's father, told Scout that you cannot kill a mockingbird, because that is a sin. Later in the story, Atticus defends Tom Robinson, a man who was accused of raping Mayella Ewell, the daughter of Bob Ewell. Bob Ewell approached Atticus after the case and told him that he would get him at some point in his life, and spit in his face. At the end of the story, Bob Ewell attempted to kill Scout and Jem, showing how he really did not care and was willing to do anything to upset Atticus. Scout and Jem represent the mockingbird and innocence, and how they suddenly matured after they were nearly murdered.

Our story is based around witchcraft in Salem, in 1692. In the Crucible, witchcraft had been a huge deal, and many were being wrongfully accused and hanged, which we expressed thorough our play-dog structure. The hat represents witchcraft which is hanging a lady. The lady is sad and holding a cross, which indicated that she was accused even though she was not with the devil and was not practicing witchcraft. Lastly, there is a man standing happily, and thus represents the people who would accuse people of witchcraft so they could benefit, for example, they'd be able to take someone's land. The structure symbolizes a synopsis of the play, the Crucible.

This play-dough sculpture depicts a communist flag and a question mark(with a snowman kind of a confused reader, we weren't able to decide why we created it, but yeah it's there for some reason). Throughout the story, there is a prevailing communism hidden message which is shown through the flag. This message is not clearly shown through the text, which is why there is a question mark next to the flag. To further exemplify this, the flag is intentionally trimmed with green as to draw a connection to Animal Farms communism green flag. Animal Farm was an allegory on communism, further drawing The Crucible's connection to communism as well as demonstrating the allegorical nature of the book.

The Crucible by Arthur Miller is a play about the Salem Witch Trials. Our sculpture represents the allegory to the Red Scare and McCarthyism. Instead of writing about the Red scare directly, Miller wrote about the false accusations made during the witch trials in relation to the false accusations made during the Red Scare. The red background with the word scare is to bring attention to this allegory. Also, the reason why the “A” is in purple is so it stands out. We wanted it to stand out because we made it into a symbol of witchcraft to show the relation between the witch trials and the Red Scare.
