The Articles of Confederation allowed Congress to make treaties, this kept peace between the states and other nations. Although Congress couldn't tax they could make up for this by borrowing money. The last strength of the Articles of Confederation was, Congress didn't absolute power, this is a strength because it keep the states from falling under tyranny as they did with King George the Third.

The Articles of Confederation had many faults which led to it's abrogation. The first weakness is there was to no national court system, this was a weakness because cases couldn't be appealed and there was to court to hear cases between states. The second weakness is there was no executive branch, without a president the states had no figure head to look to and no leader. Another weakness was Congress couldn't form a military which broke the promise they made to protect the people through the social contract. Under the Articles of Confederation Congress didn't have the power to tax, this caused problems because without tax money Congress couldn't pay off the war debt or build roads that ran through multiple states. The Articles of Confederation gave the states the power to refuse Congress's requests for soldiers and money, this worsened the problems caused by Congress's inability to tax and form a military.

The Articles of Confederations had many faults that led to it's failure, but it did have strengths that deserve to be recognized. Some of weaknesses were that there was no judicial or executive branch, Congress couldn't tax or form a military, and the States had the power to deny Congress's requests for money and soldiers. These were weaknesses because they made the government to weak to function. Some the strengths were Congress could make treaties, and borrow money, and the government didn't have absolute power. These were strengths because they allowed Congress to keep peace, support the country while the states refused to donate, and protected the people from possible tyranny. The Articles of Confederation had many strengths and weaknesses that contributed to it's failure.
