Raised by a strong woman, and with a loving family and comunidad, in the small town of Holbrook, Arizona, my mom Vivian Alvarez Flores, had a solid foundation for big dreams.

Throughout Frances Burciaga’s life she experienced many eye opening events for both the good and bad.

Their life as individuals and their life together are a tribute to the values, traditions, and culture they grew up loving, but they also shared experiences that challenged the cultural norms of their time.

Nut Graph: Both Tom and Anna grew up in a big Mexican-American household where their parents sacrificed and did everything they could to provide for the family. It wasn’t a lot to some people, but it was everything and more to Tom and Anna. As they both grew older raising their own family, they also experienced the hardship of watching their parents grow older.
