Learn to Listen. Listening, of course, is mistaken for hearing, which many young people do that when they first hear the term listening. Listening is actually not, but it means pay attention to the person you are talking to, and listen to the words, and the tone of these words, and also, the “non-verbal messages sent with them” (Unit 3 iBook 2).

Be aware of other people’s emotions. Be “sympathetic to other people’s misfortunes and congratulate their positive landmarks” (Unit 3 iBook 3). In order to do this, you have to be aware of what is happening in the life of your communicant.

Try not to say the first thing that comes in your head, because that may alter the beginning of the conversation. Instead, “take a moment and pay close attention to what you say or how you say it” (Unit 3 iBook 3).
Also, speaking more eloquently makes you more mature, and also, try not to say some offensive words, such as racial, sexual, or swear words in your conversation.

Way long ago, I was taught by my psychologist about effective communication via a funny skit. Besides that, on a friendship group day (taught by my psychologist), the Tuesday after Christmas 2015, I never heard the full conversation topic, so I just said what was at the top of my head. I should’ve either paid attention or asked my psychologist what we are talking about before I decide to answer.
