Waiting for the bell to go. (To go where?) 

Why are they all so big, other children? 

So noisy? So much at home they 

Must have been born in uniform 

Lived all their lives in playgrounds 

Spent the years inventing games 

That don't let me in. Games 

That are rough, that swallow you up. 

Are they to keep out wolves and monsters? 

Things that carry off and eat children? 

Things you don't take sweets from? 

Perhaps they're to stop us getting out 

Running away from the lessins. Lessin. 

What does a lessin look like? 

Sounds small and slimy. 

They keep them in the glassrooms. 

Whole rooms made out of glass. Imagine.

Mummy said it would come in useful. 

Like wellies. When there's puddles. 

Yellowwellies. I wish she was here. 

I think my name is sewn on somewhere 

Perhaps the teacher will read it for me. 

Tea-cher. The one who makes the tea.

It amuses me, giving an understanding and impression that this indeed is a child thinking. The words are misheard variations of 'lessons' and 'classrooms' that the speaker misinterpreted and built on a thought process on from that. I find the child's whimsy and innocence oddly comforting and relating at the same time.

It gave me a sense of sympathy as i wonder if the child was possibly excluded?

Swallow you up: Engulf by the pressure of certain games where he describes them as rough, showing he is not ready to play those games.

This word is made up which is unnatural but is showing how far the author thinks the school is away from home, probably because of the fatigue he suffered from walking from home to school, which is exaggerated in the poem.

A common way that kidnappers take kids are offering them candy, The "kidnappers" are wolves and monsters, who lure the kids away. The poem warn us not to take sweets from them

It is a bit shocking as from all the other lines, the child has wild imagination and sometimes it makes it seem as the child is not serious and naive. But this sentence made me realise that the child has consciousness too and makes me feel bad as now its like the child is trapped.

This might show that their parents never called the writer by name, or did not call them quite enough for the writer to remember their name.

It made me feel a little bad since the child seems lonely and just longing for him/her mother but the child knows that she cannot be there for him/her. Which hits hard when someone longs for another but cannot have.

'Tea-cher. The one who makes tea.' sounds like a random thought the speaker has but it implies the speaker has teatime in school and associates the teacher with tea-making

People do not forget their names. They also need help from someone else to read their name, which is very unlikely

" I wish to remember my own name"

It could also show how the child is forgetful?

This is surprising as we know that teachers teach but the author is giving another perspective to it, which shows how naive the child is as it sounds like they think that the school needs someone to specifically make tea.
