تتعدد إنجازات الشيخ زايد في مختلف المجالات، بدءاً من الثورة العمرانية إلى وضع ركائز تطور التعليم في الإمارات، وصولاً إلى تقوية العلاقات الخارجية مع دول الإقليم والعالم، فضلاً عن مساهمته في تأسيس مجلس التعاون الخليجي، وغيرها في مجالات الاقتصاد والصحة والزراعة، كما تخللها مساهمة فعالة في تخفيف معاناة الكثير من شعوب العالم، من خلال إطلاق العديد من المبادرات التي أضحت اليوم صروحاً للعمل الإنساني، لذا فإن يوم زايد للعمل الإنساني يعد مناسبة للاحتفال بما حققه من إنجازات كبرى.
