This deposition of layer over layers continues for millions of years until the bottom layers slowly turned into rocks due to compressive forces exerted by the top layers. Sedimentary rocks, mostly consist of weathered remain of igneous rocks along with organic matter from the remains of marine organisms.These rocks comprise only about 5% of the earth’s crust.
