German tradition: 
-getting together with friends and family
-drinking alcoholic beverages and eating food together (raclette)
-pouring of molten lead or wax
-wishing each other a happy new year (prosperity, wealth, health, good luck etc.) at midnight
-fireworks, sparklers from 12 AM on
-meeting with friends , even going to parties
-New Year's Eve countdown shows with music and comedy
-making new years resolutions/plans

Polish traditions:
-similar to German traditions, apart from pouring lead/wax (fortune telling)
-going to festive balls, dancing and partying, outdoor concerts
-when partying at home: preparing and eating homemade traditional food, drinking to one's 'health' (plenty...)
-playing pranks on New Years Day
-having coins and/or fish scales from the Christmas carp in the pockets/wallet (bringing luck)
-not washing clothes over the holidays due to bringing bad luck
-paying off debt in order to start a fresh year without obligations
-sprinkling oats/eating a doughnut for an abundant new year
