Loud cheers and packed crowds are not exactly what you see during a ping pong game. In a ping pong room during competition, all you hear is silence, punctuated by the sounds of players smashing a ping pong ball every now and then. The room is mostly empty, in comparison to the gym full of people who come for other sports like volleyball and basketball. Ping Pong isn’t a sport that gets lots of attention from students.

Not many people realize how much value ping pong can bring to us.

Ping Pong can bring us joy by providing great learning opportunities. Learning new skills and new ways to add different spins to the ball, while smashing as powerfully as you can are few of the many exciting and joyful experiences that ping pong brings to us. Imagine the satisfaction when you see the ball spinning AROUND the table, or going backwards so your friend can’t hit it. Among friends, you constantly teach each other different things that you’ve learned and surprise one another with new skills.

In addition to teaching us new things, ping pong makes our friendships stronger and becomes our stress-reliever. Ping pong has taught me perseverance and challenged me to reach for new goals. It made me use my creativity to create a whole new ranking system with my friends. Each of us is part of the system where we rank based on our performance, where the defeated gets thrown into the pool (voluntarily, of course) and the winner (or rank 1) gets all of the attention and fascination from the group.

While tons of people gather for basketball and football, not many realize that they are actually missing out on a good and wholesome game of ping pong that has the potential to bring joy and connection and build lasting friendships.

Wind, according to the Cambridge english dictionary is “the perceptible natural movement of the air, especially in the form of a current of air blowing from a particular direction.” Yes, that is what wind is, but it’s also so much more. It’s the feeling of fresh air after being in a stuffed room, it’s the feeling of the air con breeze hitting your skin, it’s the feeling of fresh natural air embracing you when you go out for a walk.

Us humans underappreciated a lot of things, maybe this is because we take the things we have for granted. What I feel like makes wind so important is that everyone has it, it’s around us constantly. Yet no one talks about how grateful they are to have it. For me personally, everytime I’m feeling stressed or worried I go out to ride my bike.

Breathing in the air and feeling the light breeze allows me to clear my head. It helps me think and focus. Without this release method, controlling things such as mental health and physical health would be much harder for me.

It is easy to appreciate the wind considering we all have experienced it. How many times have you walked into a cold AC filled room and felt at peace? ALL THE TIME. Allowing yourself to appreciate and enjoy simple things can allow us to feel more at peace and centered with ourselves.

I think rain boots are underappreciated. They scream childish, smell of rubber, and are as smooth as butter, but they have a purpose. In places like Vietnam it rains quite a bit throughout the year. Maybe you had a pair or two when you were younger because you liked jumping in muddy puddles like Peppa Pig. I had a blue pair with flowers when I was younger. Now I have a shiny bright yellow pair! I used to really take them for granted, but ever since I moved to Vietnam and had to deal with traveling through flooded streets, I’ve started to really appreciate rain boots. How many times have you gotten stuck in the rain and had to travel through the oceans on the streets? Icky brown water soaking your socks. Your $1000 Satan Shoes? Ruined! Your nice boots that you needed to wear to that one event? Ruined! With rain boots you never have to worry about stepping into gross waters near the gutters and getting your shoes wet. Although rain boots might not be as stylish as other boots or tennis shoes, I quite like them. I mean, rain boots are look more or less like regular shoes too. They can be shiny, matte, patternless, pattern-ful, flat, platformed, the possibilities are endless. You don’t even have to wear them in the rain, they work for gardening or simply trekking in dirty (as in places with lots of dirt) places as well! Or you know, if you just want to wear them because why not.

As technology grows, our lives become more and more comfortable. In fact, if you ask a 9 to 5 worker who stays inside a cubicle all day long and who doesn’t work out, they have probably forgot what physical exhaustion even feels like. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that the goal is life is to be physically exhausted all the time. However, I do believe that in today’s day and age, not enough people are receiving this enlightening feeling. For the people who do exercise and do commonly feel physical exhaustion, you might also be questioning my allegation. I mean, how could feeling like you’re about to die of dehydration, or barely being able to walk straight a good thing?

Now now, I’m not going to disagree that feeling like you could collapse isn’t exactly enlightening. However, the action of recovery that follows extreme physical exhaustion is absolutely something that everyone should feel. I mean, taking a sip of water isn’t exactly life changing. However, when your throat feels like the sahara desert at high noon, a single drop of water feels like the tastiest liquid in the world! Seriously! As the water travels down your throat, it feels like it’s taking your exhaustion down with it. You’ll also regain your voice and the imaginary cracks inside your throat start to disappear as you stand there enjoying the best sip of water in your entire life. Basically, any satisfactory thing you could possibly do has its satisfactory level exponentially increased by being exhausted.

Another great example is taking a massage. Normally, taking a massage already feels good. I mean, even if you’re not tired at all, how could you possibly not feel heavenly after receiving a great massage from the otherworldly hands of a massage therapist?

But on serious note, why are you getting a massage if you’re not tired at all? Seriously. Don’t go wasting our time. Just save your money.

Chocolate…

The one convenient snack that everyone enjoys, that is sweet, delicious and rich. However, I believe that this snack is being under appreciated by numerous people. First of all, chocolate has so many various types of flavors that it fits almost everyone’s taste. For people who like bitter things there is dark chocolate, for people who likes sweet things there is milk chocolate and for people who like creamy things there is white chocolate.

But that is not all!

There are chocolates with things inside such as nuts, dried fruits and jams that add texture and personality to each and every type of chocolate.

The flavour of the chocolate is also something we can't forget. As soon as it enters our mouths and touches our tongue, the chocolate melts with the heat and turns into a rich and creamy texture, in addition to the sweetness that comes along and paralyzes our body. This flavour energizes our minds and flushes our exhaustions and fatigue away, giving us energy to continue with our day, whether it is learning, playing sports, making a presentation, or solving files.

In addition to the flavour comes the convenience of the chocolate. You can buy chocolate anywhere, whether is a huge mall or a convenience store, unlike other snacks that might only sell in designated places. Chocolate is also very cheap, so anyone can buy it in a moment for a small snack. You can also bring chocolate anywhere you go, whether it is to school or to work. As it is also very small in size, you can take one out of your pocket anytime and pop it into your mouth, and get a sudden burst of energy to support you throughout the day.

Candies!
I am pretty sure that many people in this world are big fans of candies. There are numerous kinds of candies on this land. Everywhere you go, you can easily find different kinds of candies. We all know that candies are not the best thing for our health. However, there is a big part of it that keeps on attracting us to them, candies. Lollipop, jellies, mints, Fruit flavored candies, lots of flavors and textures. Candies are the perfect snacks for you, not too expensive, not too heavy, and highly affordable. The taste of it makes you forget about its negative effects. Even if you end up in the dentist due to eating too many candies, you can’t stop buying them. Even when you want to quit eating it, when you see it around you are instantly attracted again. I think one of the main reasons why many people like it is because it has different kinds and tastes. If it were all similar and same products, people wouldn't be as attracted to candies as they are now. People can choose their own taste. It’s also found almost everywhere that it’s harder to find places that don’t sell candies. If you get sick of the current flavor, you can always go buy another flavor. Candies also make you feel better when you are feeling down. If you're having a bad day, and nothing seems like helping, go to a convenience store and look for your favorite candies. As soon as you taste them, you will feel so much better and happier. Remember to pick up a new flavor of candies today after reading this!

In our world today there are many great desserts. Out of all of these desserts it still fascinates me how people enjoy cupcakes. A cupcake is probably the worst type of cake to exist. When you look at a cupcake, the frosting to cake ratio is way off, and the frosting is usually 10 times sweeter than the actual cake underneath, so you can barely taste anything. In addition, when you bite into a cupcake the frosting is sure to smear all over your face, whereas cake is a lot easier to eat, and the sweetness can be balanced out. In a cake you have the perfect ratio of frosting to cake, along with that you can also add fruit in between the layers to help balance it out. A cupcake has no room for fruit unless it’s in the frosting, but once it’s in the frosting you can’t taste it anymore because of all the sugar. In conclusion, there’s no point in having cupcakes because they’re just sugary cakes that give you headaches, and have no joy, and happiness to them.

One thing that makes me comfortable and makes me look like me is video game. People might think that playing video games is not good for your health but it is not true at all. Many people these days plays video games to reduce their stress that they got from their workplace or school. For me, it is one way to reduce my stress from homeworks. I can just forget about homeworks when I play video games and just focus in video games. Once I start playing video games, I just lose track of time. When I am a quiet person in school who doesn’t talk a lot, the way I look when I play video games is more close to the real me. People might think that playing video games will make you addicted to video games, but for me, I play games after I finish my work so it is fine. It also helps me to connect with my friends by playing video games together for hours and Actually having fun together. Sometimes we fight because one of my friends just troll in the game, but it can be remembered as one memory if they didn’t troll really hard. One time, one of my friend trolled really bad in the game League of Legends so I got really mad and swore really bad. Just like other people watches tv, read books, bakes, and do other activities to spend their time, video games is one and my best way to spend time.

It is a Sunday morning. As I rise from bed, my stomach rumbles. I desperately needed food. Stumbling into the kitchen I find a slice of toast. Bland, gritty, white bread. I look into the refrigerator to find the secret ingredient, something that can truly transform the dish. With one swipe with a knife, the bland bread turns into a decadent dish. Fatty, moist, and filling, it is amazing what butter can do.

Alone, butter is a simple concept. Take what is best in milk, and seperate it from the rest. Silky smooth and fatty, this liquid gold is a gift from divine beings. Whether it is oozing down your hands as you eat a butter infused burger, or melting on a stack of pancake, who could possibly hate this heavenly liquid?

Butter takes what is good in things and elevates them to another level. Alone, bread is a almost tasteless combination of flour and water baked into a loaf. Add butter and voila, you have a light croissant, or a sweet brioche bun. A steak without butter is like ice cream without a cone, somethings isn’t right. However, baste it with butter and you have the perfect fatty and juicy steak.

So simple, and yet, so versatile. It can be enhanced with spices like rosemary or thyme. Garlic can be added for a robust flavour. Orange peel can add a refreshing twist. Whatever you decide to add, butter can take it all.

The concept of butter has been with mankind since ancient times. From milk churned by our ancestors thousands of years ago, to the packaged goodness we can get in the dairy section of supermarkets, butter has been with us through wars, plagues, and famine. The simple, yet unique addition to cuisine by butter brings a certain feeling of warmth.

Butter is like a mother. So accepting, and so reassuring. Like a mother, it will take everything you throw at it and embrace it with open arms. At the end of the day, butter will always offer the warm fuzzy feeling of happiness.

I take a deep breath and looked around my brand new room. All the new furniture in place, posters on the walls, desk looking clea, and bed looking fluffy. I stand at my door looking in for a solid 5 minutes, there's just something wrong, and I don’t know what it is. The room just looks so dull and plain, I just need something to give it colour and life. Some indoor plants. I quickly went downstairs and went to the garden, I picked out a nice pot of snake plant, ran back up and placed it down. Now, as I stepped back, for some magic reason, the room looks completely different.

Indoor plants are not just good for the looks, they can be therapeutic. Taking care of it everyday, watering it, making sure it gets sunlight. All this can help you get into a Routine and therefor help make your day more organized. Having a set time everyday whether if it's before or after you head to school, or when you finish your homework.

When people decorate their room I feel like plants either get overused to not used at all. I feel like indoor plants are very overlooked they bring so much to you. There are so many different types of plants, different ways you take care of them, for example cacti don’t need water. I think these should be a basic requirement for every room.

When mentioning about cold desserts, people always think of ice cream, but in my opinion, frozen yogurt is the better option. Sure, ice cream has a variety of flavors, like mint chocolate chips, matcha, strawberry, but you can also have a variety of flavors with frozen yogurt too. You can also add delicious toppings to go with the yogurt, making it more vibrant and colorful. Frozen yogurt as you all know is “healthier” than ice cream, it helps you digest better and has fewer calories than ice cream. Despite some differences, you might think the texture is different than ice cream, but no, frozen yogurt is still as creamy and light. Not just that, frozen yogurt is fresh, flavorsome, and appetizing. The sweet and tangy flavor of frozen yogurt is what makes it more special than ice cream. Some people might disagree, but, wouldn’t you want to eat something different and healthier than ice cream once in a while? I definitely would. Frozen yogurt is as good as ice cream, and if you are craving a refreshing dessert this summer, eat frozen yogurt, a much healthier option. It’s a great summer dessert to enjoy.

My Reflection: Have you ever heard of the term water? I'm a water lover. There's not a day that I won't consume less than 2 liters. That feeling of just drowning your throat with oceans of H2O, getting an "interior" shower all over your organs, it's just so amazing. However, let’s put it this way, a lot of us out there live on a regular basis without this essential type of liquid. We either don’t drink enough water or just think that it tastes bad and uses other unhealthy drinks to get over your thirst like soft drinks, milk tea or protein shakes. Throughout my day at school, there's always kids who plays hours of sports but never even wanted a sip of water. I mean seriously? Our throat became a dry desert after those hours of activities and you don't even want to make sure you refresh it? The more active you are, the more water you need since it helps provide the fluid you lost from sweating or other factors while playing This negatively affects their health and wellbeing. Not having enough water in a day could cause severe dehydration in the future. Some people might even say water is unnecessary since they think that there's already other types of drink that taste better. Well let's talk about how important water is to our human lives. Water helps you stay hydrated, keeping sensitive areas on your body moist like your eyes. Water will also help remove waste from your body by washing your blood vessels near your kidney. Other helpful things water brings to your body is that it helps your brain function with better flows. If you have ever felt dizzy or having a headache, take a one or two sips of water and it will probably make you feel better.

I think the way he describe the taste of the chip was very strong so what happen is that. It more or less like he is hyping up the chips.

He describe how they feel when you begin to eat them and how great it is.

I like how he described eating chip a firecracker of taste exploded in you mouth.

He describes them as comfort junk food, food that you could eat and feel the emptiness calories. This was what i think a great way to persuade people into wanting to eat chip.

The way he did a really good job of hyping chips without give and benefits or anything like other people would.he just talks about how good they taste and eat at anytime. I like he also at the end doesn't limit what he said to chips he opens it up to a variety of food

One thing that can make me happy is video games. A lot of people think that video games are violent and bad to the human brain but I think that video games can be a source to relieve stress. When I play video games I can be with my friends but also get out of the life like Homework and the chores and do whatever I want to do. Also after I play the game I can do the Homework and do the work. After I play my brain is reset to do the things I don’t want to do. I think that video games should be respected as other peoples hobby. Also after playing the video game I feel comfortable. I feel all my stress being put away and I think of what I should do next. Like other people have their hobbies to spend time I think video games are the best way to spend time.

This article was a little less serious than the ones I have annotated before, so I had a little fun reading this. However, this article somehow does relate to my Op-Ed article, and might help me write it. Since my topic is about mental health and one of the ways of improving mental health is eating something, this could be a fun example. The content of the whole article was about eating/praising junk food, which also surprised me because these days, the only articles/magazines/writings about junk food is about how bad they are for your own body. Nothing was that special about this article, but it was very entertaining to read. The funniest sentence of all in this article was “Eating these chips will rescue us, above all, from the very worst things on our screens…”I enjoyed reading this sentence because I am also a big fan of junk food, and I especially Love eating potato chips. Overall, This was a great and fun article to read.

To me, I feel like trying hard in school is under appreciated. A lot of people tend to make fun of people who put a lot of effort in doing well, calling them try-hards and laughing at them. I don't get why doing well and succeeding is so funny. A lot of people tend to also dismiss or overlook it when people succeed from perseverance and trying. Don't you learn anything from that? Don't you feel like you want to make a million bucks or get a trophy or at least be capable of being independent once you get the heck out of school? Trying hard and doing well can get you so far and get you many things in life that you want and need, it should be encouraged, and yet there are fools out there making you feel bad because you actually got up and did some work. Dumbing down yourself to look good in school because you're too cool to put in the effort is not cool when you're jobless with no degree in 5 or 10 years. So why please the people who drag you down when you succeed? Remember when they supported you? Yea, exactly, me neither, there are no reasons. So, little what's-their-face can yap all that big talk and be a nobody in a couple years and you can make your way to success, unless you actually want to fail. This doesn't only apply to school but also in other aspects of life to, whether it's your hobbies, sports, staying healthy,... Trying hard is good, you will end up where you ought to be. (I apologize if this sounded aggressive).
