I can’t really think of any major things I to help someone or the community out but I do remember when I helped someone who needed that isn’t as big as the story about the Eason’s. One time during the summer right before coming back to school I went to go get ice cream at Andy’s with my Mom, cousin, my friend Pearl and I. There was a really long line so my mom and cousin waited in the car while Pearl and I went to go stand outside in the line for 30 minutes. While waiting Pearl and I were just talking about life. When we finally made it inside, we knew that we only had about 10 more minutes of waiting to do. While waiting for those 10 minutes to pass by a woman in a wheelchair was purchasing her ice cream. She had just bought the ice cream and was going to go to the glass pane to wait for her long-awaited ice cream. As she was moving to go to the spot and wait, her wallet was open and she didn’t realize it. A couple of dollars and some coins fell out and she didn’t know. I walked over and picked up to the money and said, “Excuse me I think you dropped this.” I handed her the money and she said thank you. As I was walking back into line I realized that everyone in the line was watching me to make sure I wasn’t going to steal the money from her, but after I had done this I saw a mom that was pregnant and had a toddler in her arms throwing a fit. Part of the reason for this fit was that the toddler had dropped his shoe and the mom didn’t notice. I gave it a second to see if the mom would eventually notice but she never did. So I picked up the shoe and handed it to the mom. After all of this, I got my ice cream and went home knowing I had done 2 good deeds that day.

I can't think of anything as big as Eason's helping the community but there is that one time a few months ago when I helped out my church with their soup kitchen and their canned food drive. In my confirmation class for my church we had to do a food drive for collecting food for the homeless. I was the only person who brought canned foods for the food drive. It made me sad that I was the only one who brought in canned goods. I asked my church director if I one day I can help in the food kitchen that they have. She said yes so later that week I went back to help in the soup kitchen and I brought more canned foods. Because at my old middle school they have this program where they pass out canned goods, vegetables, fruit and every two weeks I go and help pass out food. So when I went that day to help pass out foods I brought canned goods home so that I can bring them for the soup kitchen later that week. As I was serving the people in the soup kitchen it made me realize to appreciate all the things that I have in life because not that many people have food, shelter,or clothes. And I am grateful for everything in my life. At the end of the day I did many good deeds and many of them helped my community out in many different ways.

(This isn’t really a challenge but it”s the best one I can think of) One challenge that I went through was choosing between AVID and STAE programs for the school. Avid helped pay for college application, had college visits, help with classes and schoolwork, studying tips, it’s a pass or fail class. These are the pros and cons of AVID, the pros outway the cons. STAE college visits, guided study hall, more freedom, not a pass or fail class, doesn’t help as much with applications and not as intense as Avid, not help to study for the SATs. I chose STAE because I can always sign up for an SAT help class, I didn’t need that much help on my work, I chose STAE because that’s is what I thought was the best for me. It was a hard decision because of all of the big factors, but in the end, I think I chose wisely. As Henley said, “I am the master of my fate, the captain of my soul.”

Peaceful wouldn’t be the right word. The occasional car goes by, breaking the silence. The trees are all bare, swaying just a little in the wind, a wind which cuts through you. Everyone is 6ft apart. Kinda spooky.

During this past summer I would volunteer early in the mornings with my mom to help set up water stands for runners to stop by on their morning runs. We had to get up at 4am, and kept filling up the stands for about 5 hours. It was super tiring, but definitely worth it. We were able to help runners who had run out of water, or give other runners Nuun which gave them an extra boost of energy that they needed. The best part was always seeing tired runners reactions to getting the drinks that they needed for free.

One time I was helped by someone was when I was hit by a car. I was riding my bike when a car came around the corner and hit me, and I flew into the street. Everyone stopped driving, and several people came out of their cars to help. They called 911, gave me water, and helped me get out of the street. They also helped explain to my parents where I was and what happened, as I was too shaken up to speak. I’m very thankful that they helped, as they made the whole situation less scary.

Moving to America is a significant challenge I've faced. America is completely different than the countries I'd previously lived in, and the people were completely different too. I was moving from the middle of nowhere into a huge city (Chicago). I tried to make new friends when I went to my new school, but it took a while and many of the kids just teased me. After a month or so I got transferred into a different class, and quickly found a group of friends. I learned my way around my neighborhood and everything became easier.

I think that the way we learn will be different. The school, teachers, students will have to adapt to the gap of school that we missed. Students may not be as comfortable with the curriculum. The teachers will have to adjust finals and tests for the students because we missed so much school. I think that a lot of the students are missing their friends right now, including me, and a big part of why they want to get back to school is to see their friends. The whole school being apart might have been good for the community because sometimes people need a break from school and society, so when we come back we will be ready to learn and become stronger by supporting each other to adjust back to school. I think people will act more “positively” now because maybe they took for granted being outside, going to school, and seeing their friends on a daily (including me).

But three things that teens could do daily to see more joy is working out every day so you don’t feel like you are “stuck” or go crazy, self-care time so you make sure you are taking care of yourself and making time for yourself, and spend time with friends and family so you are not always on technology or by yourself and you have social contact. I have been working out every day and making time for myself by doing face masks and taking showers. I’ve been face-timing my friends and talking with my parents.

Many nights of the quarantine, me and my friends have facetimed eaachother for hours on end, keeping eachother laughing with our dumb jokes and goofiness. In the warmth of our beds, we were able to stay safed and try our best to ignore how much we missed each other.

2. Tall mountains, swaying leaves, all at ease.

Always peaceful, always home.

Hating the distance, hating to leave.

But calmed again by the summer breeze.

3. I feel like teens should try to keep busy, keep moving and things like that instead of lying in bed all day. It’s easier to keep your spirit up if you keep active and keep doing things. Calling friends also helps, and staying on top of your school work. I have been doing the latter two, which are helpful to keep my mood up.

My experience with joy these days was playing board games with my family. And watching movies. I've been spending my time with my family. So when board games my Dad is always competitive with these games because he takes the board games so seriously and tries to cheat the whole time. Me and my sister always laugh because of the stuff he does while we're in there playing Loteria four Connect Four or any other games that we have he always tries to cheat and that's like a little bit of joy. Also during this time we also watch movies. I really like family. I seemed so intrigued by what we were watching. Some of the movies we watched were Parasite, Made in L.A, and other movies. So this is my experience with joy these past few days.

She says the different ways that Ebola and Zika impacted the world and how Corona is impacting the world. I think that this article is important right now.
I like this article. It compares it to the different outbreaks, and i think that the author did that to show how big Corona actually is. To show how much impact corona is having on the world.
Why did the author compare it to the other outbreaks?

The article is about this unexpected outbreak and how many students are participating in e-learning. Most schools see e-learning as the most productive way to combat the issue of being out of school. I like this article because it shows students reactions towards e-learning. Some students feel a lack of motivation. And some begin to question the purpose of the work. Also e-learning has exposed us to education many students and teachers may not have experienced. Why don't students feel motivated? Why do they question the work? Why don't students feel interested?
