Hadith:

By Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him).The prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

"Iman (faith) is to believe in Allah, His angels, his books, his messengers, the Last Day, and to believe in divine decree, both the good and the bad of it.

In week 1,I,ve learnt about adab while seeking knowledge. Adab is important for us while seeking knowledge, so we need adab first then knowledge. Islam said Knowledge without adab is like a sword in the hands of an untrained person, which will hurt itself. Meanwhile, adab without knowledge is like a magnificent building without a foundation, fragile and easily collapsed. it means both are interconnected and must be balance while seeking the blessed from Allah SWT

Adab Towards Family

1. Respecting parents – Speaking politely, listening to their advice, and not raising your voice.

2. Helping family members – Assisting parents with household chores and supporting siblings.

3. Showing love and care – Expressing affection through kind words and actions.

4. Praying for their well-being – Always wishing for the best for family members.

5. Respecting elders – Being courteous and avoiding rude behavior toward them.

Adab Towards Friends

1. Being kind and considerate – Treating friends with respect and care.

2. Keeping promises – Being reliable and trustworthy in friendships.

3. Speaking politely – Using kind and respectful language.

4. Helping in times of need – Supporting friends emotionally and physically when they need help.

5. Avoiding backbiting and gossip – Speaking positively and not spreading rumors about friends.

Practicing these manners strengthens bonds, promotes harmony, and creates a positive social environment.

In Islam, Qada and Qadar refer to Allah's divine will and predestination. Qada refers to Allah's eternal knowledge and plan, while Qadar refers to the decrees and measures that Allah has set for everything in existence. Believing in Qada and Qadar is one of the fundamental aspects of faith in Islam.

Qada and Qadar Can Be Changed Through Prayer and Goodness to Parents (Hadith):

A hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah (RA) mentions:

"Nothing can change the Qada except Dua, and nothing prolongs life except good deeds (especially being kind to one's parents)."

This teaches us that while Allah has already decreed things for us, our prayers (dua) and the good deeds we perform, especially towards our parents, can help to change the course of events in a way that is favorable to us.

What Cannot Be Changed? Allah's Decrees (Al-Qada') are Absolute: There are certain things that are beyond human control. These are the absolute decrees of Allah, and they cannot be changed or reversed. These include the ultimate matters of life and death, the final destination (Paradise or Hell), and the set lifespan of a person.

Acceptance of Qada and Qadar: The key to happiness and peace in life is to accept Qada and Qadar. When a person truly believes and submits to the will of Allah, they find tranquility. They understand that what has happened and what will happen is part of Allah's plan, and the key is to be grateful for whatever comes. Gratitude (Shukr) helps in finding peace and contentment in life, regardless of the challenges or blessings one may face.

2.Belief in the Prophets (Rasul)

Belief in the Prophets is another essential element of Islamic faith. Loving and respecting the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is a fundamental requirement for a Muslim, and it is an essential part of perfecting one’s faith.

Loving and Yearning for the Prophet Muhammad (SAW):

It is mandatory for a Muslim to love and yearn for the Prophet (SAW). This love is not just for his teachings, but also for his example and character. One way to express this love is to follow his Sunnah (traditions) and strive to embody his traits.

Why Must We Love the Prophet?

The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) Longs for Us: There is a hadith in which the Prophet (SAW) mentions:

"I wish I could meet my brothers." A companion asked: "Are we not your brothers, O Messenger of Allah?" The Prophet (SAW) replied, "You are my companions, but my brothers are those who will come after me, who believe in me even though they have not seen me."

This shows that the Prophet (SAW) expressed his longing for those of us who would come after him, which indicates a deep, personal connection and affection for his followers.

The Perfection of Faith: Another hadith mentions:

“None of you will truly believe until I am more beloved to him than his father, his children, and all of mankind.” (Sahih al-Bukhari)

This highlights that true faith (Iman) is only complete when a Muslim has a deep love for the Prophet (SAW).

The Companions' Concern About the Hereafter:

Even the Sahabah (companions) of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) were concerned about their status in the afterlife and whether they would be close to him on the Day of Judgment. They feared that they might not attain the honor of being with the Prophet (SAW) in Jannah (Paradise), as seen in the expressions of some Sahabah when they asked the Prophet (SAW) about their positions in the afterlife.

The Story of Rabiah and Her Request:

Rabiah (RA) was a woman who loved the Prophet (SAW) dearly. Once, she came to the Prophet (SAW) asking for a special favor—to be with him in Paradise. The Prophet (SAW) advised her to ask Allah, but Rabiah responded by saying that her heart was yearning for a specific wish: to be in the company of the Prophet (SAW) in Jannah. This story reflects the deep love and longing for the Prophet (SAW), which Muslims should strive to cultivate.

3.Ways to Get Closer to the Prophet (SAW) and Express Love for Him:

Improve Your Character (Akhlak):

The Prophet (SAW) is known for his perfect character. To grow closer to him, we must embody the traits he demonstrated—such as kindness, patience, humility, honesty, and generosity. Improving one’s Akhlak (character) is a direct way of emulating the Prophet (SAW), and in doing so, we express our love for him.

Increase Salawat (Sending Blessings upon the Prophet):

The Prophet (SAW) said:

"Whoever sends blessings upon me once, Allah will send blessings upon him ten times." Sending Salawat (blessings) upon the Prophet (SAW) is a simple yet powerful way to express love for him. It increases one’s connection with the Prophet (SAW) and brings blessings and peace upon the individual.

• Introduction to the concept of Ihsan, we need to be sure that God exists even though it doesn't seem like it but he can see us.

• Brief Introduction to eschatology including resurrection day, heaven and hell.

1. Narrated by Sayyidina Umar:

The famous Hadith of Jibra'il is one of the most important narrations in Islam, particularly for understanding the fundamental aspects of the religion. It was narrated by Sayyidina Umar ibn al-Khattab (RA). In this hadith, the Angel Jibra'il (Gabriel) came to the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in the form of a man and asked him three crucial questions to clarify the core principles of Islam:

1. What is Islam?

2. What is Iman (Faith)?

3. What is Ihsan (Excellence)?

   
   

2.Explanation of the Three Core Concepts:

1. Islam (The Submission): Islam is the outward submission to the will of Allah, which is expressed through the five pillars of Islam:

   • Shahada (Faith): Bearing witness that there is no god but Allah, and Muhammad (SAW) is His messenger.

   • Salat (Prayer): Performing the five daily prayers.

   • Zakat (Charity): Giving to the poor and needy.

   • Sawm (Fasting): Fasting during the month of Ramadan.

   • Hajj (Pilgrimage): Performing the pilgrimage to Mecca, if one is able.

2. Iman (Faith): Iman refers to the belief in the six pillars of faith:

   • Belief in Allah (The One and Only God).

   • Belief in the Angels.

   • Belief in the Holy Books (including the Torah, Psalms, Gospel, and Qur'an).

   • Belief in the Prophets (from Adam to the final Prophet Muhammad).

   • Belief in the Day of Judgment.

   • Belief in Qadar (Divine Decree), that everything happens by the will of Allah.

3. Ihsan (Excellence in Worship and Conduct): Ihsan refers to performing acts of worship and living your life in a manner that is as if you see Allah (i.e., with sincerity and excellence), and if you do not see Allah, then knowing that He sees you. It is the highest level of spiritual excellence and sincerity in both worship and daily life.

   
   

3.Origins of the Pillars of Islam and Iman:

The Five Pillars of Islam and the Six Articles of Faith (Iman) are the foundational elements of the religion. The Hadith of Jibra'il illustrates the importance of these pillars and articles, making them central to a Muslim's understanding of their religion and duties.

Signs of the Hour (The Day of Judgment) in the Hadith:

The Hadith of Jibra'il also touches on the signs of the Day of Judgment (Kiamat). Some of the key signs mentioned include:

• The rise of knowledge and the spread of ignorance.

• The increase of disobedience and sins.

• The breakdown of family ties and trust.

• The appearance of false prophets.

• The rise of materialism, pride, and arrogance.

These signs point to a time when the core values of faith and morality begin to diminish, and the world moves away from the teachings of Islam.

4.Aqidah (Creed) as the Best Solution for All Problems:

The Aqidah (creed), or belief system, is the foundation of all actions in Islam. It represents the fundamental beliefs a person holds about Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Day of Judgment, and Divine Decree. The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) spent the first 13 years in Makkah focusing on dawah (inviting people) to the correct Aqidah and good character (akhlaq). This was essential because a correct belief system is the foundation for everything in Islam.

• In Makkah, the Prophet emphasized Aqidah because the people needed to first understand the oneness of Allah, the afterlife, and the responsibilities of belief before anything else. Without a solid foundation in Aqidah, actions such as worship and good conduct would not hold the proper value.

• In Madinah, after the believers had solidified their faith, the Prophet began to focus more on Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), explaining the practical application of Islamic law, ethics, and how to live a righteous life according to the Qur'an and Sunnah.

This progression shows that Aqidah is the key to solving all problems. With a strong and correct belief, any act of worship becomes easier to perform, and a person’s life is directed in the proper way.

If Aqidah is Strong, All Worship Can Be Done Easily:

A solid and correct Aqidah (creed) ensures that all aspects of worship and religious duties are done with sincerity and devotion. If a person believes in the oneness of Allah, the reality of the Day of Judgment, and the importance of following the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), then performing acts of worship like prayer, charity, and fasting becomes part of their natural way of life. They do it out of true love for Allah and an understanding of the reward and consequences in the Hereafter
