<title>While I would not say that my educational philosophy has changed significantly throughout this course, I have honed in on some specific points. To begin, after reading Geneva Gay&#39;s &quot;Teaching to and Through Cultural Diversity,&quot; I solidified the importance I place on teaching in a culturally relevant way. Something specific from this article was her passage on success begetting more success. It is essential that teachers provide opportunities for students to feel success at school. I believe that each child comes to school each day wanting to do the best that they can. Providing students with opportunities where they can be successful gives them positive associations and experiences in school. This can be done through culturally responsive teaching. Given that students of different backgrounds often experience school as a &quot;hostile, unfriendly, and uncaring space,&quot; (Gay, 2013), it is extra important for teachers to use this information and focus on learning to create a space that is inclusive, friendly, and caring for each student. My goal as a teacher is to make school a welcoming and positive experience, that students feel is relevant and beneficial to them. </title>

<title>As I continue this program in educational technology, I become more and more convinced at the importance of teaching students (and teachers) to use technology. I believe in giving students opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge through and engage with technology in meaningful ways. It is a matter of equity and bridging the digital divide, that educators recognize the importance technology has in success in our society&#39;s future. This philosophy comes up in our TPDC because we included many ways that students can utilize technology in ways that is relevant to them. For example, gamification is incredibly socially/culturally relevant to many students in that it is a medium that they engage with frequently. Allowing students to create their own content (through Flipgrid) is also part of my philosophy in that it centers and empowers students in their own learning. </title>
