Kahoot is a widley popular website where the teacher can hold entire class quiz competitions. It will be used as as a warm up for the start of each lesson where the students knowledge of the prior lesson will be tested.

Blogger is a website where the class can participate in a blog. This will be used as a way for the students to answer questions and write reflections on the lessons of that day. It will also be used when the students are rquired to share their infographics and videos. It is very useful for creating an online learning community that goes outside of the classroom.

This will be used to give the students examples of what they will need to create at the end of the unit. The resource has 3 videos where actors depict different scenarios where aspects of positive and negative relationships and negative exterior influences have an impact on teenagers.

This resource is extremley important to the mini unit as it focuses on the strategies that they will need to act out when making their video. In the lesson it has some realistic and potentially relatable scenarios for the students. The activities encourage the learners to think about the best methods to support and communicate with others in need. The other activities get the students to research some of the available help services online which can be used to find help.

Curators Insight

The resource which I have selected is the learning activities from growing and developing healthy relationships. This website focuses on providing lesson plans and digital resources to teachers who are teaching a large variety of topics related to positive relationships. The digital resources which are embedded into the plans are extremely relevant to real life situations as they accurately depict these situations which allows for exploration and evaluation into how these events are caused and what can solve them.

What are the Pedagogical benefits?

The resource has many embedded online resources such as videos and real life activities where they act out scenarios. This will further the students understanding of the topics by showing students how real people interact through relationships and communication rather than just explanations.

The resource encourages the teacher to implement their own pedagogy, at multiple times the resource will instruct the teacher to chose the method of delivering the information which is best for their class.

This resource has a great mix of both large group work which supports collaboration and creativity and individual work which encourages inquiry and investigation into these topics. This is great because as the unit progresses the work can move from being teacher focused to students focused.

The resources have hypothetical scenarios for the students to answer questions to. This gives the students an opportunity to practice their critical thinking when approaching these scenarios by considering the people involved and what the best method for solving it would be.

Where will it be used:

Lesson 1: What's Ok and Not Ok will be used as a basis for the lesson plan and the video tagged will be used for class discussion where the teacher will stop at certain points to get the classes and teachers insight with what is happening and how it applies to relationships.

Lesson 2: Consent: assertive and respectful communication will be used as the basis for the second lesson where the types of relationships, types of interactions and whether they can be positive and negative are explored through online research and interaction.

Growing and Developing Healthy Relationships is a great resource for introducing the topic of healthy relationships to new students. It is also beneficial to improve their comprehension and application of this information by linking it to real world scenarios and situations. The resource is transformational in the way it integrates technology to improve the learning experience in ways that were not previously possible.

The Students will create an infographic which will be inspired by a specific negative influence on relationship such as bullying. Canva has a range of customisation options which will allow the students to be creative and accuratley depict their understanding of these topics.

ClipChamp is a simple video making software which is appropriate for year 8 students with little experience. It utilises drag and drop features which all make for an easy to understand and intuitive experience.

This is another resource from reach out. Instead of being a lesson plan and focusing on help seeking strategies, this resource gives advice on what the individual students can do when they find themselves or others in a toxic relationship.

This like the previous resource will be used as an example of the infographic I want the students to make. This is a good example as it gives a clear model of what the infographic should look like and what kind of information it should be communicating.

One note is an online tool where the teacher can set activities for the students to do within the lesson. It is very customiseable as most media forms can be used within. It is also very easy to distribute and check work completed by students. In the mini unit it will be used as a substitute for all of the written work.
