Folklore superstitions originated in Europe in the 1600's but made its way to North America as well, and they played a major part in the Salem witch trials in Massachusetts. The ANCIENT WISDOM accompanied by APPEAL TO AUTHORITY (religious figures), progressed to CONFUSION BY CORRELATION, as once the witch trials were complete, everything returned to normal. She even helps me out with gardening from time to time. I was always skeptic about the common belief that these beautiful creatures bring misfortune, and some of my friends actually advised against me getting one. My skepticism turned out to be right, and instead of having bad luck, I gained a best friend!

It is in this religion primarily, that cats are sacrificed (killed), and still continues to this day.
