Hi Ally - some lovely contextual examples you've found here! Paperchase is a good one to look at for stationary and ranges of surface pattern design.

DesignersGuild.com is a good one to look at for bedlinen/wallpaper etc

I've added on links to the BBC arts website (loads of interesting programmes), link to a website where you can download free figure drawing "how-to" books by Andrew Loomis (absolute classics), and an advert for limited places on a series of 4 free life-drawing classes being run at the BALTIC (excellent for improving drawing skills of every subject, but especially those specialisms involving figure drawing). If you are interested you need to email me straight away, or the places will be taken.

Great Ally - some nice links here and good starting points for your visual research. Make sure you collect plenty of examples to choose from - get them printed out in colour for your sketchbook :-)

Build on your "geometry in nature" and geometry in art" searches by combining other keywords such as "fractals", "golden section" "abstract" , "kaleidoscope", "japanese geometric patterns" etc

Ikea - Loose Fabrics

After looking at Ikea's website i found out that they sell rolls of printed fabrics, some look photographic and some are more graphic and abstract

This one of the fabrics from Ikea and i think it has a Lucienne Day quality about it, with the mix of thin black lines and colour.

Hi Ally- not much happened up here this week! Has all the action been in getting your lino, print colours and printing backgrounds ready for Thursday?

Post a visual (scan/photo/ screenshot) of at least your TOP 3 PIECES OF ARTWORK that you've generated yourself for your FMP project.

It could be drawings, design ideas, thumbnail layout sketches, photos you've taken yourself, planning storyboards, whatever shows a visual idea.

ADD A COMMENT on each one explaining how you could use it in your development.

My final major project has now came to a close and overall I would say i am very happy with it. During the project i have mainly learned how to manage my time, which made the end part of the project alot easier then it has been in the past. This project has also been a great opportunity for me to hone my lino carving skills. I would say this is my favourite project yet and am very excited to include it in the end of year show.
