I think these violations occur because students are so quick to post things. People just want to say what comes to their mind, and express themselves on the web because everyone has easy access to do so. In theory, this is great because it is instant communication to the world and everyone has a chance to say their piece. However, because access is almost instant, when students are designing pages, doing research projects, or even creating a brand for themselves on social media, they don't always take the time to consider the repercussions of everything they say and post.

I think it is important to remind students that what they post on the internet does not go away. As easy as it was for them to post something, is as easy as it is for someone else to save it. Students should be shown examples of other people that were in their position and how they are effected by the things they posted and created on the web. By giving students real evidence, it should make them think a little longer about what they post and prove that what they create has long term consequences. This would hopefully lead to less violations of the ethics commandments.
