The cast was basically five pleople:  Josh Radnor (Ted), Neil Patrick Harris (Barney) , Cobie Smulders (Robin), Alyson Hannigan (Lily) y Jason Segel (Marshall). It was created by Craig Thomas and  Carter Bays. The intro song is called "Hey Beautiful" for The Solids. 

In the year 2030 Ted start to tell their kids the story of how he met his mother. It all started in 2003 when Marshall And Lily decided to get married after a long time dating each other, moment when Ted realize that he wanted to met the love of his life, get married and have children, but this wouldn't be easy at all, it would take a lot of time, dating, tears, but mostly laughs. Ted, Marshall and Lily go to celebrate the engage to MacLaren's Bar, there Ted met Robin thinking that she was the one, they fell in love really hard but the relasionship didn't work so they had to broke up, the were good friends but deep down Ted was still in love with her.
The years goes on and Robin start dating Barney a real promiscuous men , but she loves him, Ted was okay with that, he knew that Robin was happy with Barney so he accept to be his best man. Ted is going to move to Chicago after the wedding, but in that wedding he met Tracy who ended being the mother of their kids, so he didn't move and their started living in the house that Ted built in NYC, they had two kids but years after Tracy got really sick and died. In the final scene Ted finally finish the story for his kids and they tell him that he should call Robin because He is in love with her. At this time Robin was single, the marriage with Barney didn't work so they goy divorce. Ted plays it hard but he went back to the restaurant of his first date with robin when he stoled a blue trompet for her, he re-stole it and shows up to her window, Robin smiles at him and thats when the series end.

The series has been nominated for 72 awards and has won 18 of these. How I Met Your Mother has been nominated for 28 Emmy Awards, including a nomination for Best Comedy Series. Actors Alyson Hannigan and Neil Patrick Harris have received awards for their performance, both receiving awards at the People's Choice Awards. Additionally, Harris was also nominated for Emmy Awards and Golden Globes. In 2012, seven years after its premiere, the series won Favorite TV Comedy at the People's Choice Awards.

I really enjoyed watching this series, its has all, jokes, good actors, life lessons and sad stuffs. I love the character of Lily, she was really intelligent with social things and a good adviser. I felt so sad for Ted, his journey to finally met Tracy was so hard and he had just a little time to enjoy with her.
