• Can be used throughout the students' future during transitions, work, schooling, and more!

CONS:

• Most AT is very expensive

• Can take a long time to complete the process of finding the best AT for each specific student

• Technology can have flaws and it is probably not going to work perfectly throughout using the AT device. Malfunctions could occur.

• Lots of time and hard work needs to be put into going to trainings and learning about the specific AT you decide to use for your students.

• Students can over-rely on AT and be too dependent on it to learn other skills.

• Collaborate with families, students, and other professionals or specialists such as a speech language pathologist and occupational therapist.

• Assess students on their needs, goals, strengths, weaknesses, and skills.

• Collect data on my students' performance, progress, and struggles with AT.

• Advocate for students that may need AT, need better AT, or other needs related to their AT journey.

• Support students in the use of AT and making sure they are using it correctly.

• Adjust supports or your plan to create the best outcome for your students.

• Be a good listener and help as much as you can throughout the process.
