I agree that as an educator we should use more academic vocabulary and even in an informal assessments  there should be a rich vocabulary.
I also agree that ENL teachers focus on the common approach which is to master in academic vocabulary and grammar and this sometimes causes students to be afraid of speaking.  
I believe that the article inspires teachers to model in class and not only say their class expectations, but also applying these goals in their own lessons, so students can come up with academic or textbook vocabulary, sentences, and grammar more naturally.
